I think seeing it in person would be exciting. Seeing it on tape is kind of blah.

VtVette knows Travis.
http://www.corvette-guru.com/modules/ ... t_id=94657#forumpost94657

The hour bio on him (maybe on Speed)shows that he was meganuts when he was a kid on a motorcycle. He would have fit in well with us when we were playing soccer on mmotorcycles.

The jump ranks right up there with monster trucks.

This guy is crazy nuts. He must have pretty big balls. Maybe setting on them makes him ride radical. Seen him alot on Fuel TV, along with all the younger thrill seekers.

That is nuts, because that car doesn't have the suspension to handle landing that wrong.

Here's a 301-ft jump in a stadium truck:

He grew up not far from me and rode motorcycles with some of my best friends. I was never into the dirt bike scene, but my friend Mike still rides with him when Travis is back at home. I only met him once a long time ago as he was younger than I and I was off going to college at the time. He is not the crazy kind of person at all from what I recall. He has some real skill on a motorcyle and his recent climb to fame has taken him into doing stunts like this. I can't help but think someone is coaching for the media.

While most suspension info is proprietary on the cars I can say it's most certainly able to handle any landing situation given the distance jumped even if the car does not land in an "ideal" manner. We've tested the cars many times over the course of the past few years in preparation for jumps like this and the cars have come down on the front wheels, rear wheels, one corner etc and the chassis and suspension are more than capable of withstanding the forces of impact.

The Monster jump was cool but, jumping a stadium truck and comparing it to a unibody rally car is really a apples/oranges comparison

I can say from working with him for years he is every bit as genuine in private as he is in front of the camera. He's just an incredibly nice guy whose talent and fame absolutely have not gone to his head. He has fantastic parents which I'm sure have helped. He's also very smart. He goes over every stunt he conceives or attempts and runs the numbers again and again himself. He's involved every step of the way. He's easy going, mellow actually. He never gets upset (visually anyway).

He graduated HS at 15 with a 3.9 GPA, then went on to earn a degree (Journalism I believe) from University of Marilyn at 19yrs old. The same can be said for Dave Mirra, our other driver of BMX fame. These guys are just genuinely nice guys who truly appreciate what they have, take nothing for granted and realize that without fans/media etc they would not be able to do what they do.

I agree, the rally car doesn't have the same margin for error as a stadium truck. Especially jumping over water! I just posted it because it happened last month also.
