Got a bunch of stuff I am listing and figuring I will be combining most of them into one shipment for buyers. The new shipping policy states you must set a shipping price.

How the hell do I know what it is when I don't know how big a box I will be using. Why is selling on ebay becoming such a hassle?

AFAIK once you sell multiple items to the same person, you can reduce the shipping cost with a multi-sale invoice. As far as single items, price them as if you were shipping them individually. Otherwise if the person buys several, they pay once you send an updated invoice

I always err to the high side for shipping .. I always did measure and weigh my items ..even before the requirement.. I always add the note that I will refund excess shipping charges .. has worked for me so far

Too many people abused the system by gouging for shipping after the fact. Now if you're gonna charge me $50 to ship a comic book, you have to post it up front so I know not to bid.

For the most part, I would weigh the package, then round up to the nearest pound. Then, take UPS, FedEx and USPS rates from where I live in Torrance (90503) to where I used to live in Delaware (19934). My thinking was that is about as far apart as you can get, then round that up to the next dollar.

Presto, shipping rate.

And I never refunded. It was the rate and that is that.
