Good Morning CGs!

It is a little chilly now, around 36-38, but it's supposed to hit 64 today! Lovely. It was nice yesterday, too. My wife and her brother took the baby to the zoo. Sam loved it. We took her a few months ago, but she wasn't really into it that much. Now that she's even a little older I guess it was a completely different experience for her. So that's good. We bought a year long family membership, so we'll put that to use.

I'm enjoying the new smartphone. Still getting used to it, it's pretty complicated. But I think in the long run it'll be very useful.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Good morning! Well, not really - I was going to drive the Vette again today, but I got VATSed. Second time that has happened to me since I bought it, and that will be the last time. My next purchase will be a bypass module. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Enjoy your nice weather, Matt! This will be the last warm day here for a while, so I guess it will be a good time to get the Vette squared away and also finish up a tiling project in one of the bathrooms.

Good morning guys. Not much planned to day, watch the boys and do some work in the shop. I went to my retirement meeting last night and learned a few things. I need to get started filling out the paper work.

I took the Vette out to the meeting last night. It was a beautiful day and I had to get the Vette off the lift anyway (changed oil in the wife's car), so I just took it. Today is supposed to be warm, in the lower 70's, but we are in for a change tomorrow 36 for a high and over night Friday the possibility of some snow. Then on the rebound next week.

Have a good day.

Have some guests coming by the next few days. Time to put on my Tommy Doubtfire outfit. Have to do some cleaning, shopping, etc. Guess I better go put on some motivational music.

Brad I don;t think you can get a by-pass module for a 96 model. VATS has to be programmed out of the computer and the dealers around here won't do it. Something about concerns for possible liability.

Good Morning Guys... and gals

It was 71 here yesterday and today will be back in the 70s again. Only problem is I'm still waiting on console parts. My fault as I was cheap and sent them parcel post, so they just go there this week. Hopefully I will get this stuff back soon so I can get the car back together.

Hope you all have a good pre-spring day!

I've seen a couple advertised that said they were good for a '96, but will have to do some deeper digging. Since it had only happened once before, 3 years ago, I figured I was home free. But nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Meanwhile I am really trying hard to erase the mental image of Tommy Doubtfire :-P

Interesting that Painless's application is for 95-96 everything except Corvette. You may want to give them a call.

The Painless site states:
Vehicle Anti-Theft (VATS) defeat module. Applicable to 1992 and up GM vehicles

But, I'd call first.

Also found these (and some cheaper ones on ebay) - according to the description, I just need to find out which of the various resistances I need:

Have you tried cleaning your key, Brad? (No, that's not what the kids are calling it these days...)

I never had an issue with mine, but I hear cleaning the key with rubbing alcohol sometimes does the trick.

Maybe someone else can confirm...

Mine does it once a year. I wipe the key off with whatever rag is handy, wait the required 2 minutes and it starts right up. I figure 4 times in 4 years is not worth disabling the VATS.

Cool. So give it a shot Brad. If it works, then you have an excuse to go eat at Red Looobster and take the moist wipes for your glove box.

Prolly costs the same as the eliminator kit though...

I think those are different from the Painless.

Got an FSM? The key values in ohms (like 1200 - 1345) are listed in there. Easy to do.

Yea, me to, about once a year or so. Not worth messing with.

I cleaned off the key and even tried my other key, but probably didn't wait long enough - had to get to work, gnashing my teeth all the way. I expect that when I get home it will probably fire right up. :-P

Security light solid ........BAD

Security light flashing .....GOOD

My passenger door lock messed me up one time. Cleaning the key on other occassions have done the trick. 3 times with 2 vettes over 9 years. Not bad I guess but VATS issues definately are the suck.
