Well I pop the tag off the back and reach through to unsnap the bulb holder. I know the 91' up has two torx screws the can be removed to get to the bulb but I've seen to many people crack the lens trying to get it out so I just reach through. I don't know how to get the lens cover off of earlier models. BFH ??? LOL Popping the plate off I know will work.

BTW Welcome to the site. It's nice and quiet here. Not a lot of kids crap to deal with !!!

no crap = no traffic, tho... take the good with the bad.

When I got my 88 two years ago, I called and asked the dealer how you changed the tail light bulb in the 88. They said take the two screws out. What &%@#$ two screws. There are no screws showing on the face of the tail light lense. And I asked more than one person at this dealer ship on more than one occasion. Stealership was really fouled up on this. I hate to think what they would have charged for the removal of the bumper because that is what they told me they thought they might have to do to change the tail light bulbs.

Then I read my FSM. Took a while to find it and I still can not believe it. The book states you replace the inner two bulbs by removing the license plate and reaching up to remove the bulb holder, remove the bulb from the holder, select your new bulb and secure it in the holder and reinsert in to the light fixture. Do this all with one hand!!!

Then the lulu. To get to the outer bulbs, remove the inner bulb fixture with your handy dandy 10MM socket and ratchet (by touch of course) so you can reach paste the location of the inner tail light fixture to the outer bulb and proceed as above.

I was just researching this so if I did have to change my tail light bulbs I would know how to do it. I am sorry I was so persistent. Thank god I have not had to replace a tail light bulb in my 88.

Sorry, I spoke to quckly. You do not reach the outer bulb through the licence plate hole. You reach through the inner tail light hole you opened by by the removal of the inner tail light fixture and remove the outer tail light bulb.

Your exactly right. Not sure what GM was thinking on that one, but it is a pain. Whats even worse is trying to take off the entire bumper!!!

I'm glad that they last so long (7 years and counting). If the LED lights didn't look so cheesy I'd replace them all with LED when it came time.

OK for the inside two bulbs, but the outside I've done two ways. Reaching up past the muffler, and reaching through the wheel well.

Neither is fun, tough to get the bulb in, a few scrapes, one beer, and 25 minutes. Could be worse, after all it is a vette.

Sounds like a pain. I think I am going to go for a all LED conversion soon. I just want to get my kitchen underway before I do that though.
