Don't forget to remove the drip tabs from the valve covers when installing 1.6 rockers unless turning your pushrods into fishing hooks was your ultimate goal.

Let's imagine that you're just a dumb-assed kid trying to muck around with the timing and idle on your old Grand Prix, having it in gear with the parking brake on, and the parking brake decides it's finally had enough of that crap, so the car starts creeping forward toward your future father-in-law's newly-painted garage door, and you're too brain-dead to just pull the coil wire to kill it. Well, if that happens, don't stand in front of the car trying to push back like Superman, because it just won't work.

Also, if you're a dumb-assed kid with a frozen lug-nut, do not prop up the wrench on a piece of wood and hit it really hard with a hammer, otherwise the wrench could fly up and break your glasses right in 2.

Don't ever, never, flush out your transmission fluid after drinking too many beers! Especially when you pour the trans fluid into the oil pan.
1.) You overfill the oil pan. 2.) You have to drain the new oil & filter you just put in. 3.) You feel like an Idiot (because you are) 4.) For the love of God don't tell anyone! |

When removing a stuck piston from a caliper with compressed air, never hold onto the piston with your other hand. Unless of course for some reason you actually enjoy having the top of a finger sewed back on......

pianoguy, you are one brave soul for posting that first one. Sorry if your outcome was injury, but not knowing, I laughed hysterically when I read your posts.

I learned a lot of painful lessons as a teenager (pride more seriously injured than body, thankfully) When I was a kid, I had to work on my car out of necessity. My C4 is the first car I've had in decades that I've been interested in working on |

Or in a similar scenario, rather than have the p brake fail, after the timing is set, the idle mixture screws adjusted to perfection, and it idles like a fine Swiss watch, you decide to blip the throttle in celebration of a job well done. Damn! I must confess, my stupid stuff (with Corvettes) is not nearly as spectacular ... |
