Dumb noob question, but I can't seem to find the jack for my car. Is it suppose to be around the spare tire? because it's not there. At least I didn't see it, where at?

Not a dumb noob question. Mine came laying in a pile beside the car when I got it and I have no idea where it would go should I want to put it back.

On my '96 the jack is stored in the storage compartment behind the passengers seat.

I just looked at an owner's manual for 1993, and it lists the jack as being with the spare tire. So, I think it was only '94-'96 that moved it to the storage compartment. But I can't be sure of that.

It is supposed to be either under the plastic tray in the storage bin behind the passenger or inside the spare. I've seen them in both places.

BTW Is your tire tool behind the driver's seat

I don't have a storage compartment anymore, I assume there used to be a flap or something to get to it, but now it's just a piece of carpeted plywood that's screwed down to make a "floor" behind the seats. when I undid it to get to the speakers in the back, there wasn't anything back there but a few tools someone had left back there, random socket wrench and a screwdriver. No tire tool or jack. I checked one day just to see if I had a spare and I do have a full size spare back there, but nothing else. I keep my jumper cables in the hub of the spare though since I couldn't find anywhere else to keep them. Guess I don't have a jack or tire tool :sad7:

Great...now I'm going to look like a poon on the side of the road in my purple corvette using my cellphone to come pick my car up.

I suspect that vett2vett has jacks and tire tools on the cheap.

I'm not sure about yours but I know mine ('89) has no storage compartment. Our convertibles are a different animal in the back. I have a tiny bit of room behind the seats, and a cargo area. The cargo area is 1/2 full of the top when the top is down. I have a 15lb nitrous bottle and an Infinity self-amplified sub which sits in the center of the cargo area towards the front as the back of the cargo area is where the top goes down. So, I have very limited cargo area and no storage compartment. There is a "compartment" under my carpet in the cargo area but it is full (from the factory) of anti-lock brake components.

Look on ebay or the used parts vendors for a jack. It should come in a black bag and there is a spring to hold it to the spare tire.

Jack is supposed to be located with the spare tire ...

... jack handle is supposed to be either behind/under the passenger seat or in one of the rear storage compartments.

I've also seen the lug wrench/handle under the hood of some cars, but I don't know if that was from the factory.

Frank is correct (and I'm tired) it did appear under the hood in some C4s. I'll post a year by year up date when I get a chance.

This picture from my 1984 - 1989 parts book. It shows three different locations for the jack handle.
They are all on the left side of the picture. The right side shows the tire carrier. View "A" shows the
handle inside of the spare tire. View "B", in the storage compartment behind the seat. And view "C"
is under the hood in the radiator shroud. For some reason the handle is designated as both item #19 and #28.
