I almost didn't go this week because I haven't even touched the car, even thou it's rained the past 2 weeks and I should have gotten that front sway bar removed by now... but I have not. Still need to change the darn oil too.....
At any rate I made 3 passes tonight and the track was prepped perfectly. I was leaving around 3500RPM and not even chirping the tires. My first pass was a total screw up as I missed 2nd gear and only ran a 7.99@95mph... I did the saem thing first night of the season... Got to get my head in the game and knock the rust off my driving. Second pass is where things got interesting. I came out hard on the clutch and bogged the motor but the car reacted great picking up right away. I was a bit too excited and I over revved the motor in second gear hitting the rev limiter breifly. The car seemed to recover well once I got it in 3rd gear and to save the motor for the next pass - I lifted a bit early going thru the traps. 60ft-----1.774 330------4.890 1/8th----7.475 MPH------96.83 My last pass I was finally focased on the task at hand. I waited for an hour to let the car cool down and the outside temp/DA to go down. The car was at 165*F water temp, as I pulled out of the burn out box. I came out at 3500RPM, soft hit on the clutch and rode the clutch out nearly to the 60ft marker about 1/2 throttle then put the hammer down. The car pulled really hard and I felt like I was forcing myself to short shift, determined to keep it off the rev limiter again. According to my tach I was turning 6700RPM on the second gear change and 6500RPM to third. The car just kept me in the seat pulling like a freight train the whole time. I stayed in it across the timing lights and barley bumped the limiter in 3rd about 20ft past the speed trap. I was excited as all get out commng around to timing tower to pick up my slip. I knew it was fast. 60ft-----1.823 330------4.857 1/8th----7.356 MPH------99.96 That is 6900RPM in 3rd gear across the stripe.... It was a good night. Nothing broke and the car ran good. I did try my trick of unplugging the front shocks and then switching the rear to fiull stiff.... I guess that 1.77 60ft shows thats the way to do it fron now on. My previous best ET was a 7.38 last year in a near perfect 150ft of DA. I feel like the 4.10 gear and the skinny front wheels/tires are really making the difference this year. I'm that much closer to my goal for the car and I feel like with the perfect conditions the car will do it with no further changes. Video will be up as soon as I can get it up loaded to my photobucket. Next week I promise to change the oil and remove the front sway bar.... I'd like to thank everybody at the Guru for the support and for giving me a place to post my results. Will |

The 1/8th to 1/4 mile formulas are based on bracket cars/race cars which have well sorted suspensions and leave really well..... My car is the excact oposite - leaves like crap and runs a lot of MPH. With the MPH I have, I should be running 6.90's in the 1/8th mile which means the car should run high 10's in the 1/4 mile. You typically gain 25-30mph from 1/8th mile to 1/4mile. If I can run over 125mph in the 1/4mile I'll be thrilled to death. High 10's in the 1/4 mile is my goal. I'm going to keep working on the car until I can run 6.90's or 100mph in the 1/8th mile - which ever comes first. The nearest 1/4mile tracks are too far away for me to drive to and risk breaking the car. Will |

In case anyone wants to know the weather particulars.
On the 7.47 pass the DA was 700 FT. On the 7.35 pass the DA was 455 FT. Pretty good night for drag racing. Will |

The car is defantly making some steam on the top end.The old 1/8 to 1/4 mile conversons are not close any more. You have to look at what is called the back half numbers time from 330 on that shows the car is moving on.mid to low 10 sec pass with the mph the car is running now will not be a problem.if not i will just pull it out agian and i will the next time.
