Good Morning CGs!

Happy Cinco de Mayo.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinco_de_Mayo

In honor of CDM:

Well the sun is bright and shining here. Should be a few degrees warmer than yesterday which was still a pleasant day.

Last night my wife called me and said "the car is making a horrible noise" so of course I am thinking worst case scenarios. Unfortunately we stayed at the outlaws house last night since she's working today and it's closer for her. So I packed up a few tools in the truck and came over to look at it. Drove the car about 4 houses and heard the noise, coming from the front wheel. I knew right away it was something scraping on the rotor or dust shield. So I took everything apart and found corrosion on the rotor scraping the dust shield. Cleaned it up and no more problem. Took about an hour or so but it's done. Just funny how when my wife talked about it, the car was ready to explode into a fireball from hell, and it ended up being rust. Oh well.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Good morning, all!

Matthew, it's so good when the fix is relatively simple and not the end of the world.

I'm in training for the next two days - up in the city many Gurus dislike (New York), but I love. Don't get me wrong: living there is only for the very rich or the very poor, and I am neither. But it is America's greatest city and I spent my formative middle school years in midtown Manhattan.

I'll never forget: about week after 9/11, I was coincidentally scheduled to see my best male friend (Adam) perform at a little club on 46th street. He told me I didn't have to come, that it would be a small and somewhat shell-shocked audience. I told him I was coming, but he still didn't believe me.

I took the Amtrak train up (driving there in a private car is an amateur move) and went to the show. In the middle of the show, Adam called me out for coming up from Philadelphia just to see the show and those hardened (and I'll agree, sometimes rude) New Yorkers stood up and cheered.

Just another point of view ...

Greetings! Good to hear it was a simple fix, Matt. Usually when my wife's car makes a noise, she turns up the radio. Good news - today I didn't have to scrape the windshield. Bad news - it was because it is raining. Played golf last night - the only thing good about it was the weather. I'll be back under the Vette tonight to putz with the flywheel weights again.

Nice story about your friend, j3 - I'm sure those New Yorkers were more than ready to see something that made them cheer. Have a good trip!

Enjoy your day, Gurus!

Good morning guru's! Good story j3 I am sure all areas of the country get stereotyped New York included. Matt I remember my wife calling to say the car was making horrible noises once, (our 79 C3) and I told her to slow down and try to get it home. She was in Wall South Dakota and was headed back to Montana. It only made it another 10 miles and the engine blew, dropped a valve. This was before cell phones and she had to hike about 2 miles to a ranch house through a heard of cows with bulls to call me. We had a wrecker come out from Rapid City and I headed down to rapid with a car trailer I borrowed to pick her up. She was not happy! Of course neither was I since my car was shot. It later burned up in a shop fire we had. Not a lucky car!

I finished my 90 days of P90X and I am now ripped, cut, chiseled. My arms are like steel cables my legs like coiled springs. You could do your wash on my abbs. It is only because of extreme modesty that I do not post the before and after pics. I also lost 16 lbs of fat and feel great. I am starting my 2nd round this week. It is the best overall comprehensive work out I have ever done. It also includes a lot of stretching which for me is very good. Bring it!

Have a good one today guru's!

Hope you get a big one Rich! We have a lot of wild turkeys in our area. In the summer I can sit on the front porch and see them out on the meadows down by the creek feeding in the evening.

We just shoot one from the porch with the 30-30 and I send the kids to go get it for supper........just kidding! That's illigal!

The coyotes in my front yard keep those dastardly turkeys under control.

Nevada Turkeys: Got probably 50 in my front yard.
But we're not allowed to fire a weapon this close to the house.

I have never seen one of those Bill. How do you cook them? Maybe they are like our quail here. Our favorite bird to hunt here is the wily ringneck pheasant. Good eating all white meat.

Yea, kinda like quail. Damn if I know how to cook em, never tried although, it's all I can do to keep hitting them with my pick up or the C4.

Ringnecks are everywher, big where I grew up (Pa.) and I've seem many in California.

Bill is that your dog? I grew up with labs, my first pup that was all mine (and not the family's) was a black lab, her name was "Shotgun Annie". Her sire's name was "Sir Magnum Buckshot" so it was a fitting testament. Of course we just called her Annie Fanny.

Sadly, while quite lovable and the perfect companion to a young boy she was terrible in the field. Not gun shy, just dumb. Really, really dumb

God rest her soul...

Morning guys....it's going to be a nice day here, mid 70's and a little breeze (probably about 30mph). j3 nice story, however I didn't encounter any nice people while I was there....not entirely true, I met some people from VA while there, they were nice. Chuckers, never seen them but have read about them, supposedly a good game bird. We have world class ringneck pheasant hunting here in SW Kansas. Always have some big celebrity out here hunting, mostly professional athletes. We also have some "greater prairie chickens". They are fun to hunt and good eating. Coyotes take care of the turkeys here too.

Marcus, I'm still doing the P90, but not as regular as you. I've lost about 12 pounds, but I feel better. Matt, just be thankful she tells you it's making noise, the lady that works for my wife, doesn't say anything, is hard on cars and she breaks down in the middle of nowhere, then chews her hubby out (not that he can do anything...Lawyer). I've told her several times that she is having a problem, she'll then get it fixed, she just doesn't 'know'. And the worst part is that she and my wife take off to Wichita (4 hour drive), for three or four day meetings. I always wonder whether they'll make it there. Brad, sorry to hear that your golf wasn't better, it's early in the season.

Nah, just a web pic.

I like labs but my breed is German Shepards.

That drives me nuts. People drive their cars making the most horrendous noises and ignore it as if it will go away. Then bitch about quality when something fails at 100k miles.

Yeah, it's always quieter when Tommy is off galavanting.

I got nothing done on the car tonight, too tired to crawl under it. I did manage to put the snowblower away and get my walk-behind lawn mower out and ready (the rider is in the shop getting some work done). So it will probably snow tomorrow :-P
