I took a look at the spare tire under the car today and yep, its flat! Upon further checking, it appears to be the original 1984 spare tire! I checked Tire Rack to see if I could order a t155/80/d16 and nothing shows up on the website.

Does anyone have a recommendation where to buy one?

How much do space saver tires go for?

Thanks
Mark

If it doesn't have to be brand new (heck when is the last time you actually used your spare)? I would try one of the parts resellers, like my favorite www.vette2vette.com.

I've heard of guys using either the newer GTO spares or 4th gen camaro spares as they supposedly fit. Apparently some newer import model spares with the same bolt pattern fit, too.

I have mine sitting in the garage where it's been for many years. If you ever get to the Detroit area it's yours...I dunno, $50, rim and all?

Hm, wouldn´t it be enough with only a new tire, you don´t have to buy the whole thing new, would ya...?

There isn't much of a market for these things.

Do this, put air back in it, soak it in armor all tire dressing and that should be enough.

IF you ever need it, you won't drive more than 30 miles on it.

I have to respectfully disagree.. if the tire is all cracked ect.. you could risk a blow out ect.. you never know the situation you might be in when you need to use the spare, so if one is worried about it then get one, if one doesn't care ride at your own risk....

a 84' that tire is pretty old....

or one could always carry a can of that fix a flat stuff -- I know it doesn't do good things for your tires, but in a pinch hey...

or you pull a Mythbusters and use a manhole cover LOL

I don't know if you could find just the spare tire without a rim, but you could try.

My point is that they are prone to failure even when new!!!

Has one ever measured how much space there is in the spare tire holder, you might be able to fit a wider tire and rim in there.
Not original, but maybe it´s easier to find a 175 tire if it fits in there.
Not sure about the size of the rim, but maybe it fits a wider tire than a 155.
Just a thought.
