I have been looking for some door sills to protect the carpet while getting in and out of the car. The only ones I can find cover where your feet come out. Has anyone seen longer ones that would cover where your butt drags across?

I have searched and have not found anything.

Thank you

I think ebay has them for $49.95. Ecklers $59.95 and I'm sure they are available elsewhere. Maybe Madvet (Mid America). I have bought two sets. One clear with Corvette written across the length, one black with white lettering. On ebay do a search like (90 Corvette) and all the parts for a 90 will come up along with some accessories too.

Are these the length of the whole door sill? The ones I have seen aren't long enough to cover where your feet and your butt come out. My carpet has war where the previous owner slid his butt across.

Change to 84-87 style sills, they are plastic all the way along with a vinyl insert.

Nope they are not full length. Just the foot area like you said. You could get an L shaped piece of stainless or go to your local upholstery shop and have them make you a cover for the area maybe in leather or vinyl to match the seats.

I may give the upholstery shop a try. It's amazing to me that longer ones are not made. Both 88's I have owned have been worn out by sliding your $ss across them, mine included.

My 84 has a plastic sill with a little pad on it where you slide across, it matches the interior color, I thought it was factory?

The door sills are apparently different for an 84 vs 88. I don't know if that was an option on yours or not. I do know it is hard to find what I am looking for. I am going to visit a fabricator tomorrow and see if he can come up with something for me in a brushed aluminum finish.

My door sill covers arent long enough. I find that spot where I put my hand , climbing in and out, is starting to wear. Or if your hands are dirty they will eventually stain that area.

They are different on 84 to 87, and they will be the answer to your issue.

That is normal on 84-87.

Case,

Then you are saying they are the same size for an 88. I think I saw a set of these at Eckler's or somewhere. Now I have to find the site.

Thanks.

Youll need to modify your carpeted sills, but yes, there is no reason why it wont work like a machine.

What do you mean modify? Do you mean remove a section of the carpet?

I have the half length ones and have no problems. Maybe a butt reduction is in order!

I wonder why the ones for an 84 will not work in an 88?

Who said they wont? The sills are exactly the same underneath the sill covers.

Then if they found sills out of an 84 - 86 it would fully cover and have a pad for sliding in and out. Keep looking at ebay, it will come up sooner of later
