Howdy all....

I'm new to this forum, but scanning the posts, I see quite a few names I've seen on other forums I'm a member of.

My name is Bob and I'm from Lake Havasu City, Arizona, home of the world famous London Bridge. I'm the proud owner of an '84 that is a continuing work in progress. There is always something going on with a almost 29 year old car that's a "one up year vehicle", but this time it's much different then the other vehicles I've owned in the past because it's my dream car!

I'm glad to be a member and hope to be able to contribute when I can.

Thanks guys, you have a way of making someone feel right at home!

My kids got it for me, knowing full well that I wouldn't spring for one. Being a first year C4 and a late in the production year unit, it does present challenges at times; for example, did you know that the '84 had 3 coolant sensors??...go figure. If any one of them is non-op, no temp gauge! The FSM doesn't even show a low level coolant sensor in the radiator...it must have been an evolutionary thing as there is no low coolant light on the DIC.

It took a month of searching to find out that it came with '99 T/A wheels on it. It has a LCD screen where the breadbox was and a backup camera mounted above the rear emblem. I want to put in a DVD player for passenger comfort on long trips eventually. The 'vette has been on a couple of trips to Vegas already as my family lives there and the trips have been comfortable for the stiff ride the Z51 offers, but around town, it's semi-daily driver...just to work and back, which is a 14 mile highway trip...our other ride is a Lincoln Executive Series (the better half's ride).

Enough yackin' from me...thanks again for the warm welcome.

Hi, Bob! That's one sweet looking 84 you got there!

The one thing you will learn about C4s was that they were under CONSTANT evolution.

The closest to 2 years being alike would have to be 92/93, but even then there were some changes.

You will want to invest in good wire cutters/strippers/crimpers, soldering iron and DVM. You see, in 1990, the SAE changed the rules for wire insulation. Prior to 1990, the insulation on the wire was prone to chafing, cracking, shrinkage, all due to cleaners, degreasers, you name it. This means old harnesses are done.... or on their last legs and getting ready to cause you all sorts of issues!!!

Again, Welcome aboard!!!
