Happy New Year gurus....

Like Matthew, I have to work today, but only the afternoon gig. Breakfast and Mimosas before I go and a little Twilight Zone marathon on Syfy to top it off.

My new passenger window regulator should be here on Friday; in time to change it on Saturday. The B pillar weatherstripping job is next weekend along with the targa.

Have a great day, no matter what you're doing

Good morning Gurus....

Going to be another 100 degree day here. Going to walk the swap meet and then rest up for my first day back to work. I've been practicing getting in and out of the 'vette...lol

Have a great day, no matter what you're doing....

Good morning Gurus....

Feeling better day by day. My Dr. appt. is this Thursday; I hope he will release me to light duty on Monday as I'm bored to tears.

Got a call from the body shop on my repainted wing...now how to get the 'vette back there for the day so they can finish it up?!

Should be a great day today, so make it a great one whatever you're doing

Good morning Gurus...

I've been in and out of CG lately, but last Monday I went in to the hospital with chest pains and came out 3 days later with 4 stents

Life's a bear when you can't get in and out of your favorite car..guess that leaves more time for movies and playing with the layouts.

Have a great day whatever you're doin'....

Morning fellow CG'ers.....

I got my baby back yesterday after 2 months in the body shop (don't ask why ;) ) Now, if the weather holds up, I need to do a deep cleaning in the interior.

If there's any day left, you'll find me playing with the train layout. Have a great day whatever your plans....

Good morning CG'ers....

Today is suppost to hit 109 (come on October and cooler weather) and I got up early to wash the Conti before it got too hot and then out to the garage to finish rebuilding an Santa Fe F7 for the train layout.

The 'vette is still in the shop from the 4th of July rear-ending I got on the way home...the hold up is the wing. The ordered wing cam in and I told them to send it back as it looks like a wing from a rice burner...lol.. I couldn't believe Corvette central took 3 weeks to send it. I found a close match on Mid-America and Ecklers...why didn't they see it?

Morning 'yall...

Just another day here; 106 for a high and I'm taking the 'vette to the body shop in the morning...I got rear-ended on the 4th. Nothing too serious but I think I'm pushing up the whole car paint job on the "get done eventually" list...

Got to get a few things at the store and then its movie time...have a great day wherever you are.

Morning GC world;

Yesterday was a scorcher...124 and even higher today!

The 'vette coming home from work ran so strange electrically and then I realized it had to be from the heat from being parked all day; I think the heat was messing with the ECM. It cleared up after I got the interior aired out but I'm going to check it out tomorrow morning on my Sunday spin.

Needless to say, We won't be going very far from home in this heat and especially with the 'vette. I've got a couple of projects in the garage to finish before 11 when it's too darn hot in there and then there's movies galore..The better half and I were saying last night that we can't go to Alaska to escape this because they're having a heat wave too. I think Antarctia might be nice this time of year....lol

You folks have a great day and stay cool wherever you are.

"I know vac leak detection as best as any however; do you have a leak? Or just trying to get OEM vac routing?"

Things have been messed up since day one....I'm trying to get it back to OEM routing, including emissions (PVC and crankcase venting)

I've got everything straight except the rear connections on the upper intake. I'm pretty sure from what I've been able to see, that the check valve goes at the rear most vacuum source. That is where the accumulator and A/C vacuum lines are tied together.

I was hoping another crossfire owner would chime in with more info to confirm my thoughts.

Hey Chuck, it's me...thought I'd give this problem to the "Gurus"...any ideas on this mess?

Thanks Oz; I found the vacuum diagrams in the A/C section. You're right that's how its routed, but where is the source connection? Is it where the ball is tied to? (top left circle at about 10 O'clock). That's where I think that 2-way adapter is supposed to be.

I hope one of the "Guru's" on here can help me sort this mess out.

I'm trying to find out why I've never had A/C from the vents, and it really is a mess under the hood. The photo might help explain better just what I'm dealing with.

The upper left circle is the first 2 connections for vacuum; the one furthest back is going to the PVC valve and I think that's right, execpt there should be 2 connections there instead of one (the part that should be there looks like the letter "F" for lack of a better description). The second connection is for the brake booster; that part is fine.

Here's where it gets weird....

The accumulator(ball) is connected to the cruise servo; that's all (cruise hasn't worked in a long time and I wasn't too concerned about it as I don't use it). there's a "tee" by the bottom of the ball with the short end capped off (QUESTION: wouldn't that capped off part of the tee be going tword a vacuum source like that "F" adapter in the upper manifold?).

Now, to the passengers side. The split loom that carries the pressure cycling connector and the water control valve vacuum line (1/8" black tube) has another 1/8" black tube coming up that's in the lower circle. I found it when I changed the plugs and wires and I pulled it out for clarity; I have no clue where it goes. Possibly from the missing check valve it's suppost to have on the passengers side and it doesn't show in the FSM or the suppliment, so my next QUESTION: where would it go and where would it draw from a source?

I do know that the crankcase vent on the valve cover should be hooked to the bottom of the air cleaner, so onto a third QUESTION: what is the forward connection supposed to be connected to?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this...

Haven't been on in a few weeks...Trans problems in the 'vette and trying to work them out in between 12 hour days.

78 degrees right now and I'm working in the garage today with my other pastime and helping the little one with her science fair project.

First off, DON'T do an exchange!...I'm going through this on my 700R4. The 700R4's that are in the 'vette have been worked to fit the car, not to mention the fact that they were made for 10 years and were made for 5 different vehicles. You wouldn't want a transmission for your '89 from an S-10 pickup, would you?

Bottom line: rebuild your transmission if at all possible.

I'm 'vette-less this weekend; the tranny quit shifting and it's in the shop. Hope to have some good news tomorrow.

Meanwhile, I'm doing some gardening today before it gets too hot....going to be over 100 today

Morning folks...a nice 67 and partly cloudy here at 11AM; a great day to clean the cars and catch up on 3 weeks of missed chores around the house from a screwed up work schedule.

Yesterday found me readjusting the TPS for a little run-on at shutoff....and the '84 shop manual is WRONG; it's not the bottom 2 connections, it's the top 2.

Morning CG'ers;

Cloudy and 59 degrees this morning and I aim to get outside today, unlike yesterday; What a time for it to rain....my "hobby time" is so little these days.

Now that the rain has let up on our "coast", it's time to get out there and tighten windows on the 'vette....I noticed it was starting to rattle on the passengers side the other night, so I thought I'd pull both panels and tighten both.

Have a good day everyone!

Morning folks....

I'm enjoying the first weekend off in 3 weeks. Took the little one shopping for Christmas yesterday; seemed like we walked the length of the county...lol

I've got a rattle in the drivers door (might be the crossover board worked loose) that I want to tackle later.

Have a great day gurus....

Morning everyone....

Been down the last few days with the bug that's going around, but I'm back at it today. Christmas shopping is almost done and the tree is filling up with gifts fast.

I'm so looking forward to a partial break from work starting on Thursday; the campus is closing for winter break and that will be welcomed.

I won a trip to San Diego at the other job; 2 nights at the Holiday Inn at the bay and 2 tickets to the SD Zoo...the little one is so excited. We're saving it for spring break....

Folks, make it a great day!

Good morning guruland;

Another great looking day here; 80's and back down to the 50's tonight...Today is hang the lights day and after 13 years we have it down to a science LOL....bags all marked and laying out in the garage, ready to go.

Now that the A.I.R.valve is in, I've got some sort of miss on the drivers side that I need to track down today as well as check the check valve on the exaust side of the system; which I didn't check yesterday...DUH!

Also might take in the swap meet....I'm still looking for a nice belt case for my new Leatherman.

Y'all have a good day out there...

Morning all....

Nice 80 degree day on tap here today....I heard Larry Hagman died yesterday; I wonder how that will effect the 2nd half of shooting "Dallas" second season?

Going across the lake for breakfast on the Cali side in a few and then back again to finally get my A.I.R. valve installed...this has been a monthlong ordeal

This afternoon is Turkey day for us and we catch up with the rest of the world with our turkey comas...lol

Morning everyone and Happy Thanksgiving!

Should be a nice day out today (70 - 80), but unfortunately I have to work at the hotel, so turkey day has been pushed to Saturday All is not lost however; double time is so sweet and occupancy is way down today and tomorrow so it's a cakewalk.

Gona catch the beginning of the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade on the tele with the little one before I head out.

Matt, the valve came in yesterday and it looks like brand new!...can't wait to get it installed Saturday morning

Morning all...

A bit on the chilly side here this morning...44/55 today here in western AZ and time for my cup of joe.

It took two weeks, but I finally got the smog pump back on. The reason it took so long, besides working, was that Autozone sent another core instead of a reman the first week.

Now the hunt is on for a control/diverter valve; the second pulley bolt sheered off and hit the valve breaking the switching valve vacuum connection off....sigh....

Good morning everyone....

I'm off to start my only honeydo today; Shampooing the carpets in 3 rooms. Then I have to figure out why Chevy decided to put studs in the clamshell hood I saw one of the hood hinge nuts was loose and I snapped the stud off...sigh...I guess its off to the hardware store for a nut rivet, a bolt and a drill bit. After that, the emblem came in and I'll have some quick fun putting that back on.

'Yall have a great weekend!

Morning everyone...another weekend found me getting the wifes Continental repaired; the drivers side tank had a 3 inch leak on the drivers side tank...glad thats over with and she's a happy camper once again.

Now it's the 'vettes turn; I went to open the passengers side window and it started falling forward instead of going down straight...sigh...it's always something. I hope I catch Red Bull Stratos today..it should be interesting.

On the bright side, no rain here and a nice 68 degrees at 7:30

Well, it's time to head off to the campus and then to the hotel...it was a lazy weekend aside from the Continental's radiator woes, but that will have to wait until next weekend...

The better half will have to use the 'vette if she needs to go anywhere this week.

Good morning all;

I've never jumped in to chat, so I decided to say hello today. I've finally managed to get Saturdays and Sundays off from both jobs!!

Today I went out nice and early to detail the 'vette out. I need to vacuum her out, but the better halfs Continental developed a coolant leak that I can't pinpoint, so off I go to try and find it....

Have a great day all....

Thanks guys, you have a way of making someone feel right at home!

My kids got it for me, knowing full well that I wouldn't spring for one. Being a first year C4 and a late in the production year unit, it does present challenges at times; for example, did you know that the '84 had 3 coolant sensors??...go figure. If any one of them is non-op, no temp gauge! The FSM doesn't even show a low level coolant sensor in the radiator...it must have been an evolutionary thing as there is no low coolant light on the DIC.

It took a month of searching to find out that it came with '99 T/A wheels on it. It has a LCD screen where the breadbox was and a backup camera mounted above the rear emblem. I want to put in a DVD player for passenger comfort on long trips eventually. The 'vette has been on a couple of trips to Vegas already as my family lives there and the trips have been comfortable for the stiff ride the Z51 offers, but around town, it's semi-daily driver...just to work and back, which is a 14 mile highway trip...our other ride is a Lincoln Executive Series (the better half's ride).

Enough yackin' from me...thanks again for the warm welcome.

Howdy all....

I'm new to this forum, but scanning the posts, I see quite a few names I've seen on other forums I'm a member of.

My name is Bob and I'm from Lake Havasu City, Arizona, home of the world famous London Bridge. I'm the proud owner of an '84 that is a continuing work in progress. There is always something going on with a almost 29 year old car that's a "one up year vehicle", but this time it's much different then the other vehicles I've owned in the past because it's my dream car!

I'm glad to be a member and hope to be able to contribute when I can.
