Lets get a little pre election banter going and discuss Presidents past, both the positives and negatives. Let's keep it clean. No hitting below the belt. The 3 knockdown rule is in effect.

No kidding...where are you at Harry...? About Lyndon Johnson the quotes start to go downhill....except for Reagans.....

It's a mess but I truly believe that America will survive it because there are millions of people who know how it should be and will do what it takes to make it happen...if push ever comes to shove......

Regardless of who is president, I think it is best when different parties control Congress and the White House.
Checks and Balances.

I'm gonna put myself on the hot seat and say I am uncommitted at this time and will remain so till I see more of the Republican presidential agenda. Let me say Romney has been uninformative and weak in telling me as a voter what exactly a Romney election will accomplish. I know we have many "Anybody but Obama" voters here but show me substance. All the bitching about where we are at economicly and jobswise is bullshit. Have you looked at the world economy? The key element missing in the turn around is attitude. We don't believe it's happening. And it's not. When things are at a low in this country, it's far better than most countries in the best of times.

No offense Tom but that is a truly pathetic position to be in at this stage of the game. You have two choices: 4 more of the same or worse. Or a new guy that may be able to get us back on track.

All the talk in the world will not change that.

Cheers!

I'll go even deeper. I wanted to vote McCain last go round but Palin was the deal breaker. I want to vote Romney but he carries a bunch of political mumbo jumbo. No sense talking about VPs here. We know about their impact and it's no BFD. Romney camp, give me something I can appreciate. Sure, Obama has done a few things that I don't agree with. He inherited a financial and economical mess. War is expensive. Medical advances and an aging population are sending program spending through the roof. Let's not forget widespread fraud costing billions. The ONLY thing that will get jobs moving is a buying public. The unemployment rate will NEVER go below 4%. We were over 14% unemployed here in SoFlo just a few years ago. Now around 9%. Housing and stock potfolios have taken a serious hit and has nothing to do with Obama. You say I should not have an uncommitted position this late in the game. Then have your candidate present something that will inspire me. He hasn't done it yet. Obama haters, present facts, not illusion. What is it that Obama has done or not done that bothers you? Not email BS. Some of what you'll present I'll actually agree with. Does anybody sit where I sit?

Democrats have always been about the people.

Buy the way I'm a registered Democrat that votes Independent. No party lines for me. I'm really an Independent that's registered as a Democrat. I am also a union member for over 30 years. We all know where the unions have been going. Out the door with the middle class.

Florida is a split state at around 46% each. Neither candidate has a lock on Florida. There is still plenty of time left for foot in mouth disease. I'm watching and waiting. Look back to Massachussetts for Romneys abilities. I'm not a fan of taking from the haves to support the have nots. Strike against Obama. Unaffordable health insurance is also an abomination. Gutting medicare also does not carry a large appeal. Voucher programs? In the recent past corporations have contracted and built up cash reserves. Spending will come when there are signs that the economy is coming out of the doldrums. Massive debt is weakening the this nation and increasing it's cost to borrow money. Slashing spending in a withering economy will only make matters worse but a major restructuring is in order. I also am not pro big government. Another strike against the Democrats. I wished Obama had succeeded in turning the tide but there is a long, long way to go. There is no guarantees that Romney and the Republicans can turn the tide through massive program cuts and deregulation. The answer is not as simple as choosing between Socialism and Capitalism. We all know how greedy capitalists can be. Then again, I am no Socialist. I wish I had the answers, but I don't. If I did I could run for public office. What a disaster that would be. But I'd still be better than many. Sorry if you find my noncommital offensive.

So who isn't arrogant?

The Russians?
The French?
Japan
Brazil giving criminals a place to live.
The Brits?
Iran
North Korea?
Chile?
The Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland?
Syria?
The Israelies?

Bombed the hell out of them?
Japan declared war on us and before that they were invading everywhere in the S. Pacific.
S. Korea would now be Communist is something wasn't done and it wasn't just the Americans who were fighting.
Iraq, give me a break, their people were being killed by their government whenever they felt like it.

Obama apologizing didn't do jack except to put a mindset in the rest of the world that America is weak.

He must have got caught up in the apolgetic mindset. It was a very big trend you know. I'm sorry. Even the Pope apologises for centuries old blunders. Just like giving everybody a trophy. There are no losers only winners. Diplomacy in a world economy or isolationism? We no longer have the resources to dictate to the world what they should be doing, not that we ever did. Becoming the worlds police force was a major mistake but it helped in spreading western idiology. The US loves to dictate political morality. It's kind of funny really. What do I stand to lose or gain from either of these men getting elected? Not much. The mess we are in now took time to get into.4 years is not enough time in my mind for an administration to make major course alterations. So if we abandon the course and board a new ship will this be enough? Maybe I should offer my vote for reversion. Give Romney 4 years (and just 4 years) to make his mark. If he can't do it, he's as bad as the man he would replace.
