Not too bad - a lot more than I'd pay for a car, but not too bad.

Don't say that... they cannot cut the price as they used to be able to.

The younger buyer is going to have to settle for used Corvette. It's that simple.

GM took Corvette off the dole some 40 years ago. They had to be able to sustain themselves, so prices went up!!

I agree with Andy....there are a lot of good entry level Corvettes on the market so that is where the younger set needs to go...unless they come out with the V6 Corvette with 350 hp and a couple of Turbos...........I've had 11 of them and never have had a new one yet.....probably never will....

Besides, younger drivers have insurance issues to worry about. Even an affordable Corvette becomes a nightmare to insure.

I do think GM is going after the 30 to 40 somethings that are affluent and would be looking at a Pooorcha of some sort...or maybe even a Ferrari California type car....

You know here's from July of 1989, the original advertisement for my car - $38,226 bucks some 24 years ago.

I read the base price is something like 1400 higher than the C6....not bad at all. In time, the car will be available for lower. Around here, C6s that stickered for 48-50 were selling for around 42 when the dealers wanted to get rid of them.

When I did a build sheet for my 89 it was in the 38-39k range as well.

I agree with you the base price sure isn't bad. Your thoughs are exactly to my point – the new C7 will in all likelihood follow the same path as other models. First buyers will probably be paying a premium which seems to be more of a "just because we can" by the dealers. Few years down the road, they’ll be wheeling and dealing.

Wait until the new wears off... 3 years from now, a 2014 will be $25k.
