Well it seems that we're getting a reprieve from the daily deluge of rain here in Denver. So, hopefully this nicer weather is heading everyone else's way. Actually got my car started and ran around a little. Got to get ready for the semi annual snifter test. Went fine last time here's hoping it goes well this time also. Running good so maybe .

I got my gaskets from LPE. Who is Scott?

As for my issues with the GM stuff, I'm real skeptical about my ostrich acting up. It was a multitude of things that made me go for the FAST, self tuning being one of them. I really just want to drive the fuck out of this car. Summer is here and I'm already late.

Right now I have the engine back in the car, just mounted my 6A box and remote coil for the FAST dual sync dizzy. Headers are on, so now I know where I can run my fuel pressure block, time to make some braided stainless lines!

Note I had to buy two sets of the Saginaw to AN adapter fittings. One set for the fuel rail, and one set for the connections by the fuel filter.

Hi JAGC4,
I'm Scott and I have available a SuperRam gasket set that I had created because of the lack of this gasket set. LPE is often out so I had a set developed that I have been selling to those interested here at Coretteforum.guru. If you find that you want an extra set or need an new one let me know and I'll get you set-up. The SuperRam gaskets I am offering are high quality and at a real good price for the forum members. Thx, Scott

Big congratulation on those 11 years with Lauren. You've made the most out of your time with her.

Me, hard to believe me and my C4 started out 22 years ago and still going good. Looking for the snow to melt here in the high country - it should be gone this week, yea!

Morning Steve, I'm really glad you like the gaskets. I can do a couple of sets right away but I'll need to get some more cut to get the third set to you. I'd anticipate this will take a week or so for more sets. Let me know what you want to do. Thx, Scott

Really glad you liked the sets. The shop did a very good job on both the CAD work as well as the materials. If or when you're ready for another set let me know. Have a great one and thanks!

Wanted to start making some others only out of a better material. I never liked those paper type gaskets they tear too easy. Yes they are cheap and they do work I just want a little more. Looking into other disc stuff to T off of also.

All depends on their setup quote. Its going to be real pricy then need to figure if its still worth it.
The idea of actual tool stamped pieces of a real high quality material (albeit little more $) theres an audience for both. Hope so anyway.

Good luck on the venture!

Hi Just to confirm what Matt mentioned, we do have the Super Ram gasket sets available. The only part that wasn't cut is the throttle body gasket. These gaskets are high quality, comparable to Mr. Gasket material, and readily available. Let me know what you'd like to do and we'll workout getting a set to you.
Thx, Scott

Just a quick update - I had anticipated have product last Friday but that didn't happen. I called Rosie to follow up and understand where she is at on this. The hold up is the gasket materials. The shop originally planned on having the material available last week however it hasn't been received as yet. She knows it has been shipped from the supplier and as soon as she has it the gaskets will be cut. Probably looking at later this week now. As soon as they become available I'll send out notices.

Hi guys, sorry for the delay. Okay so now I can safely say we have a gasket set for this application !!! I was able to meet with Rosie today and she is making the final inputs to cut our first set. I've asked for 6 to begin with and should have them available in about two weeks. The gasket material is virtually the same as the Mr. Gasket set sold by Lingenfelter, fyi, she's using my set along with my lid to create the masters. Looking at a little layup time and we're there. Yes, our price is very good for each set, it'll make everyone interested happy.

Sorry for the delay, our business has kept my nose to the grindstone it seems. So here’s where I’m at on this. I’ve sent the company I'm working with, Accurate Gasket, the gasket files created by Elke and have arranged to go by the shop on Friday of this week to deliver the lid gasket which Rosie will use to create the file needed to cut this gasket with the others. I’ll be taking my SR lid along for her to look at for any question they might have. So, all things being equal, it looks like we could have product as early as next week depending on how long it takes to create the lid gasket.

I’ll post an update on Friday after I’ve met with the shop and given them my full gasket set as the master set. I’m not planning on having the throttle body gasket cut unless you think they are necessary also. Just as any FYI, Accurate Gasket has been cutting regular and custom gaskets for almost 50 years and are well known here.

Hi Matt, So far it looks like this gasket set is doable at a reasonable price point. I met with a gasket shop yesterday to see what they can do. We’ll need to have the lid gasket created but that’s not too bad, probably will run ~ $55 as a one-time charge. We’ll be comparing the ones Elke so kindly created and shared with the Mr. Gasket set I got from Ligenfelter. Once everything is validated as being sized correctly it looks like we’re under $50 per set, with the lid being somewhere around $20 - $25 per.

Material wise they are pretty sure they have the correct cellulous gasket material but they would like to understand the air pressures the gaskets should be spec’d to. The gasket material Mr. Gasket used verses the new material they have visually look the same (without the white Mr. Gasket logo). Heat wise it should be good as it’s rated at over 250 degrees but they would like to understand the dynamics of the air pressure the gaskets need to withstand and I’m just not too sure about what to suggest. Does anyone have any ideas for this? They showed me some other standard materials that had heat ranges up to 800 degrees and with a 1500 psi rating which I suspect greatly exceeds what we need.

My plan is to forward the CAD drawings Elke created to them and to drop off the lid and the full gasket set I have to validate everything before they begin cutting. This leads to the next question – how many sets to cut knowing there is the upfront charge to create the lid gasket which needs to be amortized? After we’ve determined the psi rating that is needed they will be ready to go, so what’s the suggestion on how many to begin with?

Keep me posted, Scott. Did your guy tell you where they would be sourcing the gasket material or what type it was? There are a few companies online that manufacture gaskets, but I don't know them and not sure on the quality of the gasket material itself.

We discussed his experience with making automotive gaskets which they have done but did not get into specifics of sourcing - Bob mentioned he had several material vendors he could call on. I gave him a link to this page for additional information, primarily to show the interest as a community since that has an effect on how he might want to proceed. I did mention the materials being rolled up but he wasn't concerned - vacuum table. I'll still need to get him the cover gasket as you had mentioned.

I just talked to my guy at Wesco Laser Machining about the possibilities of making these at his shop. Not a problem cutting them but he is questioning what materials to use for the gaskets. He has multiple sources but he wants to know the specifics of the gasket material because of course there are multiple choices depending on the application. We talked about some alternative local shops to talk to that do a lot of custom gasket cutting, he handles cutting the larger formats for these guys. My next step is for him and I to get together so he can look at the set I have. Nice plus is that I have the complete set including the lid. I'll keep you abreast of our conversations. He's positive he can offer us a solution but we'll see.

Well, step one is I found a local shop that said they can do the gaskets. They have laser and waterjet cutting. I spoke to the owner, he said he needs to see the example and the gasket material/thickness to quote a price. I will have to pay to have the gasket computerized because the above examples do not include the lid gasket.

Biggest obstacle right now is the gasket material. To match the Mr. Gasket original material, it is 1/16", which is not the problem. Mr. Gasket and Fel Pro both have that thickness available. The problem is the gaskets are sold in rolls which is curled up, and that is difficult to cut on the waterjet machine according to the guy I talked to. I called Mr. Gasket and they do not sell it in flat sheets. I am going to contact Fel Pro and see if they are willing to sell it in sheets vs rolls.

So far, this won't be super cheap just based on materials and setup alone. Add in shipping costs and everything else...I don't expect it would be less than $50 a set.

I've also made some inquiries and have sent the pdf and dxf files off to begin the process with a local source. I'll let you know what the results are shortly. I think I got one of the last sets that Lingenfelter had available a couple of weeks ago.

All this gas pricing - how bout 10 cents a gallon for premium, back around 1965 in Colorado. Those were the days when we had big gas pricing wars going on.

How about this http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/02 ... aks-record_n_4851208.html. I guess for $1.2 Million you should get some bragging rights.

So how's your camera working - haven't seen this poster, do love Bicycle - is it the fat bottomed girls poster, probably not. That was released in Oct of 78 from Jazz, it was the cover of the single featuring a naked woman from the nude bicycle race staged to promote the single in the UK. Caused a small protest and was altered with the addition of painting red panties on her. Your poster may have come from the free one that featured all the ladies in the race - mail order only. Just saw a notice that Paragon Reproductions is offering a pre-mounted leather seat-cover kit. "The kit contains both left- and right-side seat covers (in your choice of black, lite gray, red, blue, saddle, Flame Red, white and lite beige), which come professionally mounted on brand-new foam."

Well, our customer with the '03 wanted a Tigershark front bumper, ordered one. Apparently there's no original Tigershark like on mine anymore, there's now this "tigershar2" thing. It came in and wouldn't even fit on the car. so... it goes back to the manufacturer - those guys at Extreme Dimensions. Not having a very good time with those folks - not wanting to speak ill of anyone but was wondering if ours was an isolated incident or if anyone else had any prior experience.

Don't know but here's a link to look at http://www.carid.com/chevy-corvette-body-kits/ maybe they have something.

I was wondering why more folks don't do that. Do the shorter masts not work as well? What about the few vehicles that had the antennae wire on the perimeter of the front windshield? Anyone tried that one?

good idea if originality is important.

personally, I am going to ditch the power and get a short mast, like what is on many newer cars.

I really like the 4" masts...

one must be very careful how one words this discussion... one wrong move and BAM! innuendo's fly...

Years ago in another time I remember the company I was working for burying multiple antennas all over a corvette GM sent to them. We did a lot of rf stuff and it was an interesting project at the time. I wasn't involved in it at all just observed. It was fun and interesting.

I should have taken a picture of this, but this AM was so damn cold my truck wouldn't start. Big Dodge 2500 diesel that just refused to fire up and this sucker runs dual batteries. So, fire up the '89 and jump the truck - now that's something new. Guess I better get it into the shop as it's to cold out now and no relief in sight. Weatherman said don't look for anything above 30 degrees for the next week. How fun

Well, yea, the G-Ment will help.

They'll help you get laid.

They'll help you to save your beer money.

It's all part of OB-Care and the liberals.

Yes these ads are real.

You're right they are real. You should remember we always do things a little different here . "On Tuesday, advocacy groups Colorado Consumer Health Initiative and ProgressNow Colorado launched an advertising campaign called Got Insurance? to let you know that Colorado's bros can, like, totally crush it when it comes to signing up for the Affordable Care Act (ACA)."

I just realized something...

It just hit me! My dog sleeps about 20 hours a day.

He has his food prepared for him.

His meals are provided at no cost to him.

He visits the doctor once a year for his checkup and again during the year, if any medical needs arise.

For this he pays nothing, and nothing is required of him.

He lives in a nice neighborhood in a house that is much larger than he needs, but he is not required to do any upkeep.

If he makes a mess, someone else cleans it up.

He has his choice of luxurious places to sleep.

He receives these accommodations absolutely free.

He is living like a king and has absolutely no expenses whatsoever. All of his costs are picked up by others who earn a living.

I was just thinking about all this, and suddenly it hit me like a ton of bricks...

My dog is a CONGRESSMAN!!!!

Yes, scorch the earth and poison the well. These are great policies to support, everyone should be happy with them. Bunch of dummy's out there, don't know if they want us to shoot ourselves in the foot or just get it over with and aim for the head! Guess we'll find out soon enough.

Morning everyone. Well at least today is starting out dry. I think we've had enough rain to last us a few days at least. Talked to my mom up north by Ft. Collins and she couldn't leave her house because of flooding. It is a real mess here on the front range.

Be spending the next few days canning tomatoes, pickles etc. Hot wet work - nice that the temps are down. Kids coming over to help so we should have fun. I'm thinking it'll take a few days to get everything done but then we good for another year. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

All side posts; had a diehard that I replaced after ~6 years with a Bosch which lasted ~5 years, now for the last couple I've had an AC Delco which is holding up fine but I do keep it on a trickle charger.
