The one in my '96 is from Fleet Farm - the previous owner installed it in 2005. Still going strong - I just throw a battery tender on it over the winter. Fleet Farm is probably not real sexy in a Corvette, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. I'm not certain who makes them, but saw a couple mentions on the web that it might be East Penn/Deka.

Optima Red Top.

When I was trying to start the newly dropped in LT1 in my 92, and it wouldn't... that damned battery impressed the hell out of me.

45+ seconds of honest to God cranking, recharge and then test something, and try again, for 45+ seconds...

and it did this 10+ times until I finally reinstalled the optispark...

The battery is fine.

I said what the hell, it's only money, and bought a rebadged Odyssey from DieHard.

Fits like a glove in my 85, even with top posts. I inevitably kill my batteries from draining them on occasion, so I figured I'd try an AGM, and I am 0 for 1 with Optima.

My Optima Yellow has been phenomenal. I bought it new about 6 years ago but I wasn't ready for it so it sat on a workbench shelf for about a year without a tender. I got it out and dusted it off to put it in and it was still holding a 13V charge.

I installed it, killed it a few times via bad drain, kept it up with a Tender for the majority of the 5 years it's been in service, and it will still start the engine without issue.

I have a feeling I am on borrowed time though so I am prepared to buy a new one when this one finally dies.

In my Ram, Durango, and Saab...we run with O'Reilly Super Start batteries. I usually get 4 - 5 years on average from them.

I just got a diehard platinum from sears. Like CentralCoaster said, it's a rebadged odyssey battery. Top post clears on my 96 too, and so far seems really strong. HEAVY as hell, so that must be good, right?

All side posts; had a diehard that I replaced after ~6 years with a Bosch which lasted ~5 years, now for the last couple I've had an AC Delco which is holding up fine but I do keep it on a trickle charger.

But still useful. People have strong opinions about batteries.

After buying AC Delcos only (for judging), I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing any vendor I should consider - and I wasn't.

Delco is as a good a lead acid as you will find.

the junk at autozone and orielly's is the problem.
