AS IS, I SUSPECT, THE CASE WITH MOST CORVETTE NEWBES, I HAVE BOUGHT MY SHARE OF FU-FAWS & GE-GAWS. A LOT OF THEM TURNED OUT TO HAVE ALL THE UTILITY OF MAMMARY GLANDS ON MALE SWINE.
HAVING THE GOOD LUCK TO FALL IN AMONGST THE ‘VETTE GURUS SAVED ME SOME MONEY BY WAY OF COMMENTS BY “THEM THAT’S BEEN THERE”, WHICH I SURELY APPRECIATE. THE THOUGHT CAME TO ME THAT I SHOULD PAY IT FORWARD BY TELLING OTHER NEWBS THE GADGETS THAT HAVE WORKED OUT FOR ME: THE QUICK RELEASE REAR HATCH VENT THINGY IS GREAT FOR SUMMER DRIVING. IT LEAVES ABOUT A TWO INCH GAP FOR FLOW THRU AIR IF YOU LIKE DRIVING WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN. IT COMES OFF WITH A TWIST OF THE WRIST IF IT STARTS TO RAIN OR YOU WANT TO USE AC. AND IT SURE HELPS WITH HEAT BUILD-UP WHEN PARKED IN THE SUN. (THIS FIT THE ’96 GREAT BUT NOT SO MUCH THE ’87) THE WINDJAMMER IS A WORTH WHILE BUY IF YOUR HEAD STICKS UP A LITTLE TOO HIGH LIKE MINE DOES WITH THE LID OFF. A STATIC CLING TARGA TOP LINER FOR GLASS TOPS. THIS REALLY CUTS DOWN THE HEAT IN THE GOLDFISH BOWL, AND HELPS THE AC KEEP UP ON HUNDRED DEGREE DAYS. IT IS EASY TO PUT IN AND STAYS IN JUST FINE UNTIL YOU TAKE IT OUT. YOU ALL THAT HAVE BEEN AROUND A WHILE CAN, NO DOUBT, ADD TO THE LIST OF THINGS THAT WORK. US NEUBS NEED ALL THE HELP WE CAN GET SO EDUCATION IS NOT SO EXPENSIVE.. |

I had the Glass top liner and that worked great for me also...on my 90. I don't know what the wind jammer is but I'm 6'2" and it might work for me also....some like to reinforce the stiffness of the car when the top is off with a brace that clamps in so the car does not flex so much when the top is off.....I'm sure the guys will have other stuff that works...

Don't forget the emergency hood release cables.
I also used a locking gas cap with a hidden compartment with the C4. Here is a picture of the windjammer mounted to the top of the A pillar. That was absolutely the best little mod I had on the C4. |

I have a Windjammer also - it worked great, but I haven't used it since I got my AFSB targa truss some years back. I love the targa truss, and if it had a little lip on the front like the Windjammer, it would be even better. I would like to get a canvas top to slip on it in a pinch.
I had a skip-shift module (the plug-in gizmo that defeats the 1-4 shift) - that worked well until I had the skip-shift programmed out when I got my new cam. I have one of those harnesses with a shut-off switch for the under-hood lights - easy mod and worthwhile, as much as I seem to have my hood up. The Jack-A-Vette has come in handy many times - it is an adapter for your floor jack that allows you to jack up the rear end at the differential. I was too lazy to make emergency hood-release cables, so I installed some ready-made ones several years ago. They appear to work - fortunately I've never had to use them. A small drill-driver with a Torx bit speeds up top removal and installation. I keep it in the storage compartment and just have to remember to charge it up every now and then. |

I've been meaning to make my emergency hood release cables for 10 years now. I really need to do it, especially since I already have all the stuff in my shed. My cables actually broke once and it cost me a couple hundred to fix as I recall. Money well spent because I understand a session with a therapist is necessary if they break and you don't have the tool or home made gizmo to unlatch it. |

I replaced my original cargo shade retainers with these a few years ago - the do work much better than the originals, which would let loose of the shade if you sneezed:

YEAH, EMERGENCY HOOD RELEASE CABLES, I PUT A PAIR OF THOSE ON BUT DID NOT MENTION THEM AS I HAVE NEVER USED THEM. IN FACT THEY WERE THE FIRST ACCESSORY I PUT ON. FIRST TIME I LOOKED AT THAT HOOD SETUP I THOUGHT "IF THE CABLE BREAKS YOU'RE SOL FOR SURE". |

Don't forget the "DAMMIT" doll. This causes much less damage than throwing a Craftsman wrench when your mechanical skills result in another broken bolt.
