Looks like a nice kit, just make sure you get the right piston for your head compression, that one says 11:1 at 64 cc. Also, despite it being "balanced" from the factory you should still get it balanced by your machinist.

most important - is it USA made? If so, good... if China? run.

Canada, Japan, Taiwan, Germany, Poland, Australia all good.

Crank and rods are decent.
Closely inspect the thrust surface of the crank. Every now ant then Scat leaves them rough, and they chew up the thrust bearing. It's been years since I ran across it, but it costs nothing to check it.
Rods are decent, but will likely be 2-5 tenths tight. Have the big and small ends checked.
As Matt said, don't trust the balance. Have it spun locally to verify.

I have heard many stories of "balanced" assemblies, not being balanced.

It's a safe bet to simply buy unbalanced and have it balanced.

On the first kit... It dosent say what ring package they use... if its 1/16 rings then thats a good kit. If it has 5/64 rings find something else...

I have same Scat 4340 forged rods and crank in the engine I built for 93ragtop.... he ran 11.18@124mph first time out. Makes 462RWHP thru an automatic trans so you can build a pretty decent engine with the stuff.

All I will say about Flatlander is they rarely have anything in stock, so expect to wait a hot min for your parts to ship.
