So far I've celebrated my 53rd birthday by waking up at 5:15AM and going to work. I just finished the first phase of the work on my car (water pump, opti, hoses, wires) last night, so if the roads are dry when I get home this afternoon, maybe I'll take her for a little spin.

Shift work....

Never did it myself, really. But my wife worked nights at Wal-Mart for a few months. I was in college, and we had a young daughter at the time.

I felt like a single parent. My wife slept while I went to school, and I slept while she was at work. I took my daughter to daycare in the mornings, so my wife could sleep. And I took care of my daughter pretty much by myself in the afternoons. My wife was an assistant manager at the time, and worked 12-16 hour days, and travelled about an hour to work one way.

She had weekends off, but it was really hard for her to be awake and coherent during the day.

It was a pretty bad time in our lives. So bad that I barely remember it. I just remember it happened. All the details are fuzzy.

One thing I DO remember is that one morning, I was heading for an 8am class. I parked my POS Chrysler Lebaron in a parking garage, took about three steps away from the vehicle, and for some reason, I turned around...

When I did, I nearly hit the ground. In a tired daze, I had forgotten to take my 2 year old daughter to daycare, and nearly went to class and left her in the car. I wanted to kill myself.

Anyway, like I said. Bad times. Glad it's over.

Hopefully you'll get acclimated to the shift change easily!

Thats funny...... now.

Hitting the road today for a fun filled adventure weekend to the ghetto. Err, LA. Nothing better than leaving the sanctuary of the mountains for a long weekend in the "big city". I'd better take along my vitamin V for "those moments" on the freeways.

Maybe hookup with the Bogus's and Ron.

Ah, drivin' in da hood, yo.....

I drive thru the hood twice a day (on the 10 and 110 fwy side), luckily they're bad shot's and haven't got me yet...

The idiot drivers on the other hand try to get me at least once a day. They cut me off, just merge where I am, etc... and then look at me funny when I'm yelling "HANG UP AND PAY ATTENTION A**HOLE!"

Someone remind me again why I can't remove those idiots from the gene pool......

I've worked mids for the past couple years. I don't mind them at all, kind of like it. I grew up watching my dad work mids for 20 years, so to me it's "normal". I've been on days filling in for a guy who was hurt, so now it's back to mids. Wife hates it, but oh well.

And the oven is beeping, which means it's time to go. (Did you think I was kidding?) Hot banana bread. Nice.

Have fun, talk to you when I return from the dark side (midnights, that is...)

Up here in hills we have whats called "Tourist Season"
Although the bag limit is small, we can usually rely on them to kill themselves at about two month.

It doesn't offset the growth rate but it does make me feel better..

I'm just guessing here. But they kept the afterbirth and threw away the baby? And no one really noticed or cared?
When the baby came out, it was so ugly that the doctor smacked yo' mama instead? Am I close here?
If it's your 50th, happy birthday but you'll get no sympathy here. Been there, done that! :thumbleft:
May the next 50 be even more fun yet! The great thing about getting older, is that you can be a major PITA and people just have to put up with it. It's a respect thing, or sumthin'....
This beer I'm drinking is for you, wild man! :occasion7: :bbeer:

Oh, and if it's not your birthday?, Well then, just.....
