First off some prayers for the Guru Stig in that the fires will be contained and completely miss his area......

Morning Guru's..... Had to work all day yesterday hauling grain......wasn't to bad I took the Cascadia which is a nice truck. Got three runs in but took 12 hours.......the lines midmorning were terrible.....7 wide at one point. I sat 2 hours and 20 minutes more to dump......I laid down in the walk in sleeper and took a nap at one point. Very nice!

Today.......I have not figured it out next.......

Tommy you should really consider a C6 if making changes. You would enjoy all the changes that have been made........just saying.......Grand Sports are the best.......

How about a pic of that Yorkie..........we have two......best dogs ever.....don't shed....

Later taters........have a day of freedom........

I'll take some pics of the dog soon. Just had his nuts nipped so I'll give him a few days to adjust. No C-6's. Really. As I recall from my youth, older folks liked a quiet, comfortable more sophisticated ride. Buick and Cadillac both make nice examples for the oldtimer in need of a sedan. I'm leaning toward a Yukon XL in an SUV platform. Not now but when I get old. Not quite sure when that will be. You guys tell me when you start feeling old.

Some people start at 29. They're part of the "Sit and Stare" crowd.

Some of those and others say "Some day I'm going to buy a sports car" but don't get out of their lounge chair.

Some people have the so called "Mid life crisis" and buy a sports car to make them feel young. But they don't drive it much.

Some feel "Exciting" is finding a new place to sit down.

Some like 4 door cushy cars.

Some people refuse to feel old.

........... Somehow I know just what you mean BillH. lol. I jumped into sportscars as an empty nester when I could do what I wanted to do again. I drove the cars regularly when I worked for a living. I was lucky enough to spend over 5 seasons autocrossing. I still love the cars, occasionally drive the cars but I don't roam from home much anymore except to do a few things for the company. I don't like to waste money on things like restaurant meals, especially when Sue and I can make better meals at home. I don't hang out. Don't go to club meetings or events. I love cruising and gambling on the ships, occasional concerts and nice rides down into the Keys. Burnt out on dealing with people pretty much except for a few. But I do like to drive and bring some of my favorite cd's along for a trip down memory lane and some spirited driving. I haven't lost interest. I just have varied interests. It's tough to share my time with all the things I enjoy doing. Gardening, birding ( I like looking at the different local birds ), salt water fishing, caring for animals, building up the property, maintaining everything and the car hobby all get pieces of my time. I'm not as fast as I used to be but I get everything done (pretty much) That's my story and I'm stickin to it.

But I don't miss the drinks so much.

Greetings! Kinda gloomy, but they took the rain out of today's forecast. Good thing, we're having a little party tonight and I'd hoped the deck would be dry. My son and his GF are here, and she's been wanting a ride in the Vette, so we'll have to get that on the agenda. Leaves are starting to pile up in the yard, so I will have my work cut out for me soon.

Have a good day, all!

The fire is only 5% contained but there's 855 firefighters and 155 engines here.

3460 acres

Windy now and supposed to get worse, blowing towards me.

What is the terrain around the house, Bill? Is it wooded or is there a natural firebreak. Good luck in any case. Wetting everything down sounds like a great idea if it will help. That's what folks do around here. I know hot ashes landing on the roof can ignite a home.

The roof is 3/4 in. thick concrete tiles, don't absorb much water. Deck flooring is old redwood.

No trees, they start about a mile west of me just past the extremely expensive golf course.

This is the foot hills, I'd guess the ridge behind me is 700 to 1,000 feet higher than me.

Unfortunately, the gap between the hills where I am and the valley where the fire's at is a straight shot.
The houses south and west of me are multi-million dollar ones.

Back when the moles destroyed my grass, I decided to put in a circular dirt drive. While I was running the backhoe, I cut a 30-40 ft, firebrake all around the house. The rest pf the property is very flammable sage brush.

Winds are 35-50 right now.
90% chance of some rain tonight. The sooner, the better.

So far, I've seen zero smoke today looking towards the fire.
But that doesn't mean much.

Supposed to be 1,000 fire fighters on the line by this afternoon.

We're on alert all weekend.

Hey guys...got up fairly late, then went to the 'city' to do our weekly shopping. Got back and went out to the shop to do some work. Electrifying the cabinet I built yesterday. I still have to cut some other holes in the cabinet for the communication wires for the router, but until I get some other things lined up, I can't/won't do them until those are done.

The area where Bill lives is a neat area, I hope and pray that they get those fires under control, Bill.

Btw, not only is the roof 3/4 in. thick concrete tiles, the siding is concrete or at least a mixture of concrete and something. I know cause I put every piece of it up myself. You have to cut it with a diamond blade on your circular saw and wear a respirator.
Good stuff, 30 year non-prorated warranty

I'd load up the 67 but can't figure how to pick up a 700 lb. body and walk it out of the shop..

yea, it's been a steady , kinda light rain since 3:20 so, I guess I'll get some sleep tonight.

With only 6 days of rain since last April, you couldn't ask for better luck. Could have been really bad without it.

Watching "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" right now.
