Looking for tips or sympathy attacking the problem. I use a FSM which describes the problem BUT it is very difficult to get at. Straight up from the gas pedal, about a foot and a half.
Put the steering wheel up, put the seat all the way back and get on your back, and look up. The nipples on the controller/programmer have to be trimmed back because of the heat, they collapsed. Then reconnect the vacuum hoses and your done. Sounds like a one Chiropractor job. Seriously any tips will be greatly appreciated. |

I've never heard of that one, what are the symptoms?
If ya feel acrobatic you could remove the seat and rails. Lay on your back, and make sure you have a cell phone within reach. |

I was curious and looked on the "other" forum. There were about 25 guys with 96's with that specific problem. Pull the seat sounds like good advice. Thanks... |

Mine was replaced before I bought it. Now I know why.

I had similar symptoms (where it was blowing out of the defroster vents), and replacing the vacuum check valve under the passenger-side fuel rail cover solved my problem. I got one at NAPA for a little over $2 - might be worth a shot.

I have a '96, but haven't had any issues with it. I have heard of the '96 being the most prone to a vacuum controller issue though.
Here is a link on the other forum that might shed some light on this (if this is in fact the problem your having). http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showt ... 2&highlight=ac+controller |

In my case, it would blow out of the defroster vent, and then slowly (like having to drive down the block before it would switch) switch over to blow out of the A/C vents. Disclosure - it actually cost me about $202, as I impulse-bought the low-profile jack they had on sale - LMAO! ;-) |

Oh, my wife hates it when that happens. According to her, there are no "low cost" fixes for anything. |
