So I am finally going to pull the trigger and replace the motor in my car, and it's going to be a 427.

Dart has a brand new block out that will bolt right up.

I'm getting Brodix Race Rite 200CC heads to replace the 180s. I'm having Brodix machine the combustion chambers

I'm shooting for 10.5:1 compression so I can run pump gas.

I'm having the Super Ram base gasket matched to a 1206 and ported. I'm also going for a custom ground cam.

It's being built by Pat Musi in Carteret NJ. This will be the FIRST 427 of this type he's built since it's a new platform.

He wants $1500 to do all the work which includes pulling the engine and swapping the parts over. I'm going to have him do it. I don't have the time, plus I can get the car back in 30 days, which I can't do on my own.

I will need to buy new heads, so my old heads are now officially for sale. I have a 74219 cam for sale.

So that's my story....comments?

It will be interesting to see what numbers that combo comes up with. Take it to the Z06 Fest

Wicked!

I wish they'd come out with some big displacement LTX blocks. But that's what the blower's for

Will be great! Can't wait till you have it up and running and tuned in. Get it to a good dyno (not dynojet!) and post up your rwhp and rwtq numbers. Is it going to be done in time to take it to a track this year?

As a side note, if I were you I'm not sure I'd stay with the superram with those heads and big cubes. It will run good but I think much more can be had with a miniram or LT1 conversion intake. With your cubes you will have PLENTY of low end grunt running a mini and a decent cam and those heads. I love my HSR and it would be good on there too but I honestly think the mini would be best for you now and definitely simpler. You could sell the superram for probably enough money to buy a miniram, and it would be so much easier to install and all. Food for thought.

I don't disagree, however, I expect to do most of my running between 2000-5500 RPMs. This is a STREET CAR first and foremost.

Roller lifters are only good to about 6500 RPMs TOPS.

The SR should run out of breath around 5500, which, is OK by me if the bottom stays insane.

What I am doing is picking a cam, leaning 230/230 112* maybe 114* which will work with the SR, but also go with a MR should I decide to change it out in the future.

I like the characteristics of the TPI system. I understand at the very top I'm sacrificing something, but not enough to matter, and I can swap out an intake on this car in no time, if I ever want to.

The way I'll be driving it 99% of the time, the SR should work well. If it doesn't, I'll make the appropriate changes.

A big inch LTX would certainly makeme happy too. I keep thinking eventually a 84 will find it's way into my garage and a 454 s.b.c. would be the ticket and spray the piss out of it. Good luck to the o.p. however with Pat Musi doing the build I think it will be just fine and no luck needed.

My first thought... shit.

Ok... I am calm now.

The SR won't run out at 5500, expect more like 6200.

That is going to be an animal. What are you doing about the rest of the drive line?

I was hopin you'd like that.....I'm psyched....

if I get 6200 out of the SR....that would be SWEEEEET!!!

The trans is temporary, it will blow up

I'm keeping my eye out for a deal on a D44.

I'm sticking with the 3.07s anything I do.

Should be fun, huh?

yea, that trans will be a light snack for a 427.

Well... if you are gonna do a D44, I would consider a manual trans and then you can stick with the stock 3.42.

I'd love to go stick, but too much work, I'm gonna stick with an auto and have a stout one built.
