Has anyone had their fuel injectors cleaned by an off-vehicle service such as http://www.witchhunter.com/ ? I'm looking for a recommendation for a good service.

With 125K miles on my '94, and the benign and not-so-benign neglect my 'vertte has obviously been subject to, this seems like the right thing to do.

Well... those are multecs... I would take the money and get new FMS injectors, splurge and get the matched set. About $350 at Summit.

They are multecs, AFAIK, but not the same as the crappy multecs in the 89-91 (like I have). The design is different and they can be cleaned. Talk to Jon at FIC. Although I have no personal experience with him, he has never had anything but positive reviews.

Multec 2's are self cleaning, and a little better than the originals, but not by much.

The price to have them serviced would more than likely not be worth it, and many places are no longer servicing multec injectors.

For the same money or less, order yourself a pair of these bad mothers and tell Jon that Rich sent you please

http://fuelinjectorconnection.com/sho ... _a=viewProd&productId=166

Great warranty, the best customer service you will ever find, flow matched, latest technology.

You guys aren't gonna make this easy, are you? I thought this was going to be easy. Now I'm going to have to learn more about fuel injectors than I ever wanted to know! Since Jon and FIC came up twice, I'll take that as a strong recommendation and give him a call today.

I also noticed that he buys old injectors -- except multecs. MORE food for thought. I think I'm going to get an earful when I talk to him.

Thanks guys,

Qack

This (from http://www.asashop.org/autoinc/sept98/techtotech.htm ) didn't help:

General Motors Multecs: These are more likely to be shorted than not! We throw away approximately 65 percent of all GM Multec cores. Each Multec is tested under a loaded (on) condition with a current load unit and a scope. (This test is repeated approximately four to five times per injector from beginning to finish.) Many bulletins have been offered from "The General" on this subject and why it occurs, but in reality it doesn't matter since they are the only injectors that have had this particular pattern failure; other units run for hundreds of thousands of miles without the problem!

$350 is not in my budget right now, since I've put in well over a grand in new parts over the last four weeks, although a matched set sounds tempting. The Bosch units cost just a little more than getting mine cleaned -- but if even one of mine is bad ...

Another vote for FIC - the Bosch Stage III's are a great deal, and their customer service is second to none.

Well, it seems that FIC is the choice of most everyone here, however I used Cruzin Performance (The guy's name is Rich) back in the winter to "rebuild" the injectors in my '85, and I was very, very pleased with the service and result. He turned them in a week, and provided me with a printout showing the flow test results before and after he worked on the injectors, sent back all the "old" parts he had replaced along with the "new looking" injectors, and the car runs great. I think total cost with shipping was less than $150.

Just my 2 cents worth.....but I've never had any dealings with FIC, so I can't compare the two.

Just did my injectors in my 89. Got the injectors from Jon and he helped me when I had a question. Great guy to deal with. Best $169 I spent.

By the way, the Chevy dealership wanted $1500 for new injectors and $450 for install. Saved a bundle doing it myself.

OK, OK. You guys are tough. I talked with Jon today.

He said pre '94 multecs are junk but that from '94 on, they're "not so bad". However, I had already talked myself into a set of his Bosch injectors, and he heartily agreed that was the right thing to do, so I ordered a set. They should arrive by mid-week and I'll put them in ASAP or sooner and report back.

BTW, after I mentioned this group and this thread, Jon said the guys at Corvette Guru are "too techhie" for him. Just wanted you to now that.
