http://www.nomadio.net/

I picked this up used this week, it's the Nomadio Sensor.

The baddest RC radio I have EVER seen. Then again, their new React is even badder... but I only paid $150 for this one!

It was over $400 new!!! Gotta love depreciation.

This thing is seriously bad ass. 2.4ghz, digital wide spectrum... and a few thousand other things I haven't figured out yet. No crystals!! EVER!

It can store settings for upto 20 cars. Has a transciever, so it can return battery voltage, temps and tach data. Also does lap counting.

Yes. This is serious.

And the best part? USA designed and made. I had no clue. They are a big time defence contractor, too.

Thats nice, but how many working cars do you have?

So I take it you can use it with the existing receivers in the various cars after you program in the frequency?

Corvettes or RCs?

So does that replace the remote controllers for all the cars? Why not just use the ones that came with them?

You have to use their receiver... remember, it's two way, also.

Conventional receivers will not work with this thing. No crystals, 2.4ghz... ain't happening.

As for working RCs, 4.

That's the thing... at this level of RC car, they don't come with radios. My other radio is a Futaba 3PJ. Great piece... FM, 75mhz, PCM... but uses crystals... and I always hated being down on channel options.

That's what I was getting at. So you have to buy (4) 2.4ghz receivers now.

What cars do you have?

I'm still using my trusty futaba from 1992. The radios that come with the new RC10T4s are 27mhz and are complete garbage, they sputter, lose signal all the time, and reverse themselves every now and then just to piss you off. Do these guys who race these "factory teams" use those electronics, or do they just have to use the car?

Wonder if it can diagnose a C4?

Has Bastett used it to see if she can steer you into the kitchen to do the dishes?

LOL.

Lets see your RC cars dude. We need to turn your backyard into a scale track.

With the right setting, you can steer nuclear warheads too.

With that radio, I would not be surprised if MERV's could be directed.

The idea is that you move the receiver from car to car.

And just what iteration of "The Purple People Eater" are we up to these days ?

That should stir up some interesting questions.

you really like to cause a ruckus, eh?

I have lost count to be honest... I think the wedge was the last one, and that is now about 8 years old. I did a couple of generic stock car bodies that way, too... I would have to guess it's nearing 10.

Ever since Jay named the first wedge... and that goes back to about ~1994 or so. Damn. It could be earlier, because I was running a purple wedge outside at hobbyworks in 1991. Oh, man, that brings back a memory or 100... They started racing in this parking lot in front of the hobby shop in the mid summer of 1990. I went out a couple of times, but was a bit poor and could not afford the new narrow band radios that were now being required...

That off season, I got the new radio and proceeded to build my old RC10 buggy into a real live oval racer. I spent about 10 hours rebuilding that old school vari-diff thingy Associated used to have. Complex, but effect gearbox... I then reengineered the front end and put a lowering kit and foamies on it. Then came a super mod wedge body... 1' rear spoiler and a 5" high side dam... that sucker would corner at WOT and not push one bit. I was running 7 cells and an old Speedworks 427 mod motor. 14 turn double, IIRC.

In short, I came out in the 1991 year and kicked their collective asses. There were 20 races that season (2, 10 race sessions); the four lowest were dropped (2 per session), making for 16 that counted; I won 10.

For those outside the loop, I went through a phase of painting RC car bodies varying shades of purple... that's where the name comes from.

The very first one would have to go back to before we met; when I was still racing in Lewes at Dave's old clay track! That's 1989/90.

How's that for a trip down memory lane!
