Now that's a tough word to spell...

I normally try to stick to mechanical issues, but with this Corvette, I haven't gotten there yet and frankly, its a little intimidating...everything is big...and expensive compared to the Japanese stuff.

Anyway, here's the question but background first. I need to get some floormats. Car only has the driver's side. I'm thinking of the Lloyds mats as there's some seller on Corvette Forum (is it ok to mention them?) that sells at a good price with free shipping. My car is polo green with tan inside. I am thinking of the evergreen color floormats with a small sideways logo saying "Corvette" facing the sills.

Any thoughts on the color choice? Tan interior with the green mats...I know, not of world shattering importance, but opinions sought.

I have the same colour combo you do. As far as mats, I prefer black. It works with the natural tone of the interior.

And there is no problem mentioning any site here. We are not going to punish you for that... well, unless it's like kiddy porn, then we will have your ass arrested and then shot...

I was under the impression that Lloyds Mats were only made for C5s.

From what I've read on the CF, that's a BIG mod.

I thought green might be a good contrast. Only due to the outside being green.

And as to the other matter, no worries, I've prosecuted too many kiddie diddlers in the military. I still can't look at a tube of "blistex" without thinking of some of these guys. At least they're all doing hard time in Leavenworth or whereever they are sticking them now.

Another vote for black. Would look good with the other black parts in the interior, and would not show dirt as much.

Best of luck, whatever you choose!

Yes, Black is beautiful. I have Lloyd's mats front and rear and they are very well made.

Black hides dirt but Ive always liked mats that are the same color as the carpet. I personally think mats are ugly but they are a necessity. Once they are worn, toss em and get some more.

I like the Lloyds mats. Its a nice carpet. I'm surprised black is a preferred color, especially with a tan interior. I'll have to see if I can find pictures of that.

Tan is a fall back. But everything in the car is tan, so it would just blend in. I'd like the interior to pop a little...pink?

Our 62 has an old set of Lloyd mats. I posted a thread on the other forum about their restoration.... posted some good tips here:

95vert,

My ride is a 94 Polo Green w/tan interior. I have the black mats with the color stitched C4 logo inthe foot wells. As a possible suggestion get a set of black ones for everyday use and a set of the Green for special events and shows. The green is not that common a color and would be a nice complement to your exterior color. Might consider the cargo area mat as well.

what a great mod there Wes. What that thread needs is an update ...C2 owner pushes loser C4 owner to take grinder to frame in order to make headers fit. I thoroughly enjoyed that.

Ron, the only C2 owner there was Joe (DDSJoseph). He left as soon as we brought the Sawzall out... I don't think he wanted to bare witness.

Some funny stuff there.

I had those form fitting black trays in mine.

I really liked them till I pulled them out and found they chaffed a hole in the rug!

Do you have any other interior mods? Or would the floormats be the first one?

Black.

Won't show dirt the same as tan.

You know, I got the part about painting the mats. I've worked with dyes to change the color of leather. The rest of the stuff with the Sawzall??? I have NO idea what that was about.

The mats would be the first mod I've made to the car. Next mod will be Z06 wheels or the A-mold wheels...I believe they are called.

I like the idea of 2 sets, but I think the first ones might be the green. I'm leaning that way, and yes, the tan would show dirt, good point. Good to know about those plastic liners as well.

IMHO adding the Vette logo is over the top...too much branding is just tacky.

How about brown LEATHER? I got a generic auto catalog the other day and they show them in a Mercedes with tan interior...VERY NICE! Couple vendors listed:
http://www.autosportcatalog.com/index ... B9C043EB&mr:referralID=NA http://floormats4less.stores.yahoo.ne ... genuine-leather-mats.html

Or how about coco mats? http://www.autosportcatalog.com/index.cfm?fa=p&pid=1607

I think you might be right. Too much branding might diminish the overall effect. Could just have initials put into an unobtrusive corner if I wanted to pay the surcharge

Leather and the elements might not be good since there's a lot of crud you can carry into the car. I'd have them covered in towels most of the time.

I think I might just venture into green territory.

Funny; I DO have a towel on my seat (vette AND Jimmy). I don't like leather...
