I thought it was a day that was supposed to live in infamy.

Hopefully it does at least for those who were alive to experience it.

Too many days of infamy lately. I should get a flag though.

Not many WWII vets are left - I read that as many as 1100 die every day. Thank one if you have the chance.

I finally got to go to Pearl Harbor a couple years ago - I'd wanted to see it since I was a little kid. A sobering experience.

I went to Pearl 4 years ago. I will never ever forget.

The last time I was in Hawai'i, 3 years ago, I had the honour and privledge to meet a Pearl Harbor survivor. I took the extra minute to privately tell him "Thank you. For your service then and your service now."

If anyone is interested, you can donate to the new Pearl Harbor Memorial Fund by clicking here: http://www.pearlharbormemorial.com/

I have donated a couple of times over the years.

My dad was a WWII vet. He served in England as a P-51 mechanic with the US Army Air Corps, 8th Air Force.

He died in 1977. I know that's why I was so interested in learning more about the war years. He was there and just as I was getting old enough to listen to his tales, he died.

My grandfather is alive and well, he served in the Army European theatre (France then Germany). I have all of his patches that were on his uniform. 3rd Infantry and 10th Armored division. I have seen the movie Saving Private Ryan and I can understand why he has never talked about it except for a very few humorous moments. I have always respected his privacy. To me it means a day that changed everyones life.

The day of Dec 7th 1941 signifies the betrayal and an act of war towards the USA. Similar to Sept 11th 2001.

Both are points of history that should be remembered as dishonesty towards US citizens. May our government never allow this to happen again.

My flag always flys for those that sacrificed.

Amazing how many people (younger generation) don't even know what it signifies.

Well, my dad served in Nam, but you won't get that out of him without some effort... some don't want it to be glorified and are perfectly happy with history stacking dust on their memories.

Cheers to all those who served in good times, and bad, whether they welcome the attention or not.

So sad but true. I blame mostly the parents for not instilling the sense of pride being an American citizen. Heck most of the "Now Generation" can't tell you diddly about Viet Nam, Granada, nor Panama. But they know 911 and Afghanistan and Iraq. Hopefully or delapidated education system will get of their butts and start teaching mor about our modern times instead of trying their darndest to stop prayer, saying the Pledge of Alligence and being respectful of each other.

Share the pride:
