lost the upper radiator hose today, patched (NO parts houses had one), filled, and on the way home spitting, sputtering, died at the stop light, refired it and it was running like SHIT, very rough, revving on its own, and raw fuel reaking from the exhaust.

Just got it home on a flatbed

It might run after it dries off, though it's probably drowned.

If you take it apart and drain the fluid out, it may be ok.

Lovely!

Hope it behaves better when it dries out - some folks have been lucky.

Later opti? I doubt very much it's hurt. They're sealed pretty well and as long as the venting hoses are in place and in good shape, it should be fine. Check for moisture in the opti connector and also at the coil and coil module connectors too. Clean them with electronics cleaner or something similar and let them dry.
I've really seen very little trouble from later optis and not as much as some would have you believe from the early ones for that matter.

I agree with the guys, it's certainly worth a shot.
I'd use WD40. That's what it was initially developed for (Water Displacement formula 40). I've used it on wet distributers many times.

Yep, 94 & up have the better seal and the vent. But still have the paper cap to housing gasket. At least MSD uses an o-ring.

I hope it dries out for you.

Rich, you might want to take a look at the Samco hose sets and just replace them all.

Exactly what I was wanting to do, but atm my vette is my daily driver, my cavi is down due to 2 bad injectors (yeah, keep laughing lol new ones are on their way)

Found a hose, replaced it, fired it up.

Its running okay, no huge miss, I took it for a drive, but it feels very off at idle.

Its idleing a little lower than before (500 now, 750 before) and I used to be able to let the clutch out in 1st and it would idle along at about 7mph, now doing that it feels like it wants to stall out.

yay!

Coolant won't hurt the opti immediately... it's a long term soaking that kills it.
