The beam attaches to the tail of the transmission, there are two long bolts/nuts.... I think around 6", but not sure, mine have mysteriously disappeared. I blame my wife....

But in any regards, does anybody know the specs of them.... I'm going to pick them up whereever I can find them tonight. (Anybody know if a hardware store carries them ?)

This is an 85 - 700R4 combination.

As always, thank you for any help !

Ugh .... I am not sure what to say... Get OEM!

The oem bolt is treated to resist galvanic reaction with the aluminum.

I would go to the chevy dealer for them...

You're right.... I'll give them a call, maybe they will actually know what they are as well. I have a gut feeling, it will be difficult to find them.

This is basically a C4 restoration that I have been screwing with over the better part of the last year.... which includes a new engine and transmission. I do not know where the old bolts are....

I have discovered that they are 12mm bolts that are 160mm long and have also discovered they are a discontinued item, but you can still order them, but it takes 1-2 weeks to get them..... so says my local Chevrolet dealer.

Try calling this place (link below). You will need to specify length and mm. and I believe they are class 10.8's. They usually have every mm. size, hardness, washers and nuts available and in stock.

Have you checked those tailhousing to transmission bolts yet? Go as long as you can without bottoming out in the hole. I know I got my trans from the same guy as you and mine were too short and caused me alot of grief.

Not sure I can find any job I did on this car that hasn't caused alot of grief.

I hope they fit, I do not have them yet, but will know when I get them. I do know they are supposed to be 12mm x 160mm bolts.

I emailed vette2vette, didn't get an immediate reply, but I found some on ebay, so I paid through the nose for them at $ 40 for the pair including shipping.... then vette2vette emails me back the next afternoon offering them for $ 16 shipped..... .... oh well, I've been wasting money on this project from day one, why stop now.

But, I think I like vette2vette.... they sound reasonable, I'll use them for future stock part needs.

thanks for the help all !
