Good Morning CGs!

Hope everyone had a nice Saturday night. We went yesterday to see the movie 2012. Was a little strange, and a lot long. 2.5 hours worth of long. About an hour worth of too long. Not bad overall, it was an interesting concept. Guy behind me must not have found it too interesting, he fell asleep. My review is that it's about a b- movie that should be on TBS by the end of next month.

Tried to go to the winery restaurant last night. We thought we'd just pop in with no reservations. Bad idea. 1.5 hour wait for a table. Ugh! We ended up going to a really good Mexican restaurant down the street instead. My BIL and I shared some big meal for two with like 7 different meats all brought out on a big cooker. Excellent. We left that place stuffed.

Today I'm gonna try to get to the sporting goods store if the guy I know is working. If not I might postpone.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Got hit by the freeze all the way to the tip of Florida. Icicles are hangin off the tips of the leaves. People who didn't have irrigation or innsufficient irrigation are gonna be hurt. Farmers fields are brown. Millions upon millions of dollars lost. Billions throughout the state. Toss that onto a bad economy and people are going to lose their land. The whole story will come out in a few days. That's when all the damage will show.
I think we'll just have plant damage. The leaves will fall off and regrow on most of it. Some will die. We dropped our crop insurance because the dedutable was so friggin high. We would have to lose about 25% of our plants before they would give us a nickle. Even after that it was about 50% of value. We kept the insurance premium in our pocket. We'll come out ahead in the long run. I hope to take some pics. I'm heading out shortly.

Gee, Tommy, sorry to hear you froze your tip off. Must be painful. Maybe the wifey can help warm that up for you.

Sorry to hear the freeze was so severe. Looks like we'll be having some expensive oranges this year, huh?

That blows indeed, Tommy - warming mojo on the way! If it isn't snowy and cold here in the winter, people lose money - quite the opposite end of the spectrum.

Andy's Iggles didn't show up last night, but that played into my wife's master plan for a Vikings-Packers NFC title game. But many other pieces of the puzzle have to fall into place.

We'll be spending some time in the Keys week after next with a bunch on snowbirds from Michigan and Ohio. Talked to them yesterday and they were bitchin big time. Apparently they didn't bring clothes with them for this kind of weather. :shaking: Space heaters are sold out and the sweatsuits and cold weather clothing are flying out the doors of retailers. Somebody is happy.

Man, Tommy that sucks! We expect that here in the bread basket this time of year. But that's not what you think of in south Florida. I hope your not hurt too bad.

Well I got the big run to KC accomplished without too much trouble. When we left Friday (about 3:45pm) it was 32*. When we got to KC (about 9:45pm)it was 2 with wind chills to -20. I worked about two hours that night, hanging some cabinets that I built and finished up hanging the last of the sheetrock. Went to bed about 12:45 am and then got up at 6 to get the pickup ready. All this in nearly knee deep snow.

Hooked up the dolly and gathered up the tools....oh it was -3 and WC to -25 at that time. Grabbed the SIL and went out to where the car was. Unhooked the dolly, so I could back up and get the engine, then we hooked the dolly back up but the ramps were too steep to push the car up them. Really snow-packed roads and couldn't get any footing. Luckily, the guy had some car ramps and I backed the rear end up on them and relieved the angle enough that the four of us guys were able to push it up on the dolly. Got it all strapped down and we were headed west by 8:30.

They gave me directions to get back to I70/Kansas Turnpike, but I missed the turn (brand new on/off ramp that my Garmin didn't show) so I thought I'd just keep going, my Garmin took me right back to where I needed to be, but it didn't know about the snow-packed spots. It was a very slow first 35 miles (about 40 mph, if that). Once back in I70 we were about to pull it at 65mph (even though, right there on the fender, in the rear view mirror it says 45mph limit, what do they know?)We made it back to Great Bend in 4 hours, it was about 30-45 minutes longer than normal. Dropped off the engine and the car at the nephews place and he said he hoped that he could have it done by next weekend. Jumped back in the pickup and dropped the dolly off and headed for home. Stopped in Garden City and bought a new garage door opener (the other one shot craps Wednesday) 2 1/2 hours later we are back at home. I missed working the JV girls game (I called ahead and let them know I wouldn't make that one), but was in time to work both Varsity games.

This morning, I got up and went to church and then came home and installed the new opener. Then we went back to GC to take the daughters family out to eat. Today was the oldest grandsons' 13th birthday, Friday was the Daughters/SIL 10th Anniversary, and my 55th birthday is Tuesday, so we got all those knocked out with one meal. Oh it was 52* today here, in KC they got up to 8* according to the daughter, I'm glad to be home.

Tomorrow it's back to school....man if this is what retirement is like, I'm going to be one tuckered out boy.
