For you phone geeks out there like me...
Verizon and Motorola just announced the DROID X today. This is an incredible device that is more incredible than the "DROID Incredible".

cool

one of the reasons I bought my Droid was the physical keyboard, or more importantly the physical pointing device, which I used quite a bit.

I don't quite understand why they claim it makes the Incredible look like a bench warmer. They share a lot of things, the HD screen, 2.1, 8 MP camera, 1 GHz processor...I actually like the IU Sense more from HTC, and then there's the issue of size.

It's too big.

I got to handle a Sprint Evo, similar overall dimensions, and it's a very large phone due to the bigger screen. Sure the big screen is great for media viewing but man it's a wide phone. Way too wide for me.

I LOVE my Incredible, and while I like seeing new and exciting phones come out from all the manufacturers, the Droid X just doesn't strike me as anything special compared to some of the other phones available.

It is big indeed! I will need to get in my grubby little paws to see if it's too big. A friend here has the EVO and although it is bigger, I don't feel its way too big.

Also... not cracking on the "Incredible" at all, as I think that is an awesome phone too. They made that statement in the article, that's why I made that comment in my text above.

I just got the EVO and for a big handed type person (like me) or for someone who want's some screen realestate (so you can see things, once again - me) - it's just fine. The bigger screen makes it nice if you want to watch video's too....

If you add on the Seido case it becomes bulkier, but still fits in the pants pocket or shirt pocket.

By the specs I think the Droid X is the largest Android phone, bigger even than the EVO.

I do recall though that it is lighter than the EVO, and it's design quality make it 'feel' like a smaller phone. It's also got that funky hump on the back above where your hand would hold it.

I'm not nor have even been a fan of Samsung phones simply because of their modified version of Android, but the new Galaxy S has the best screen of any Android phone.

Look into it's Super AMOLED display and you'll hope to see that tech showing up in other manufacturer's phones ASAP. Nothing but benefits.

I just found this compare chart - interesting....

Resized Image

I like the EVO so far, and Sprint seems to cover the area's I go to pretty well....

Side by side, the X has a larger footprint, but the mechanical buttons bother me a bit (I'm tough on phones...)

From what I can find, the X's dimensions are 5.02 x 2.58 x 0.39 (127.5 x 65.5 x 9.9 mm), just a bit bigger than the EVO and weight 5.47oz (slightly lighter than EVO)...

I'm sure there's going to be a billion EVO vs. Droid X vs Iphone4 vs .....

Each will have pluses and minuses - the bottom line is what do you want to spend your $$ on and which carrier do you want to support....

The Incredible is my first smartphone. I absolutely love it.

Android software is fantastic, and Sense UI is the icing on the cake.

I have the older iPhone 3G... it is truly the best phone I have ever owned. As far as being usable as a smart phone, it rocks. no complaints.

I just got the droid this week also. A huge upgrade from my previous phone, a cheap samsung flip phone.

I do like the large size it makes reading the screen easier. It's gonna take a little bit to figure this one out.

I went to try and get one this weekend, but the three Verizon locations I went to were sold out. I guess I'll just wait a few more weeks.
