Excellent morning, I hit 341 up to Virginia City at 7:30 while the tourists were still sleeping in. It's the twistyiest road you've ever seen. Thru V.C., Gold Hill and Silver City to the start of the 341 Hillclimb.

Lou G. pulled in with his ZR1 right as I got there. had a chance to BS with him for a few minutes.

So how far is the run, and what are some of the times? Looks like fun. Good pics.

I'm not sure og the exact length, I think it's 5 miles. I drove it Wendesday, scary sum-bitch.

Lou was down to 3:21 at lunchtime and was hoping it was going to cool down in the late afternoon.
All the cars are a bit down on power, the altitude is 6,200 ft.

911. Thanks Bill. If he was pushing with a 3.2 6 cyl. He probably did need a little help climbing the hills but going down is a breeze.

They come back down on a different road (at the speed limit), it's an 11 mi. loop.

If you look behind the Chevelle, there's a couple of newer ones. But, I didn't get good pics of them.

Very tragic happening at the hillclimb.

From Lou G.

Hi Guys,

we did win the event with a 3:21.747 one second faster than the Millen GTR.

Yes, there is more time in the ZR1 but this is not a normal course.

The last driver up the hill crashed at the end of the straight and did not make it. RIP
God Speed. VR Alexander in a Porsche turbo was the driver. Sad way to end the event.

THanks and we will post up some video when we get back

Lou Gigliotti

It happens at times when people pursue their passion. RIP.

That's terrible.
So, how is the drive under normal circumstances?
Must be fun.
Speed limit? Are the bends marked?

wow. that sucks.

Now... the million dollar question: Will lawyers allow them to run this event ever again?

It's as twisty as anything I've even been on. Speed limit's 45 the bends are marked but that doesn't matter much in a hillclimb.
This is an alternate 6 mile route, not used as much as the regular route where they have full guard rails.
I drove it in the 92 on Wed., no one around, hit 70 on the straights and took it easy in the corners.
The big thing is the places with no guard rail, it's damn scary looking over the edge when you're in the car.
Even this vid doesn't show the dropoffs well.

Yea, it does.

Probably, they would allow the event to run again. 2 people were lost in a Viper 5 years ago.

The great thing about Lou's victory is that he beat the Stillen GTR.
