It's time... I hate it... but I have to do it... Create posting rules for this place.

1. Please be sure you put the discussion where it belongs.

2. Please play nice. I don't like snide comments for the sake of hurting others. Seems petty to me. Take it to PM.

3. No pissing contests.

4. No wars from other sites continued here. I don't mind if someone finds a huge issue from another forum and wishes to cross-post it, that's fine, but I don't want arguements to pass across the wall...

5. No thread hi-jacking. We have had a lot of that here, and it really is hard to read the progression. Tech threads that have gone off on some utterly unrelated tangent are not worth reading and will discourage folks from participating. Take it to PM's, take it to another thread. A suggestion: if another topic needs to be started, start it, but cross link it to the original, that will help everyone understand how it came to be, and why it's a different thread. Stupid posts will be deleted.

6. Finally, most importantly, no harassment. Period. Not by email, not by PM. Nada.

7. Please take a few moments and install iSpell, it is an Internet Explorer spell checker. All I am asking for are posts that are easy to read and understand. The better the writer communicates their need, the better the answer.

8. Carfax... we can't have folks posting requests for them or offering them. Carfax will come down upon us like a ton of bricks. Screw that.

This is a living document, as such, it will change from time to time.

It's quite easy... after you are done entering a post, just right click and spell check it!

The upside? It works on ANY site!!!

Thanks!!!!!!!!! This is how we can help each other better!

spelling is truly the least of my concerns... but it does help us, collectively, help others.

I don't really need it, but I use it...

Certainly nothing unreasonable in these rules, just basic common courtesy for the most part.
Re/ spell check, I use Mozilla Firefox which is the best browser ever, IMO. It has a zillion possible add-ons too, one of which is an automatic spell check. It underlines in red any misspelled or questionable words. If you need suggestions, simply right-click on the underlined word. And if one of the suggestions is the word you were attempting, simply click on it, you don't even have to retype.

Perhaps we need to find a punctuation check software, too.

In todays politically correct world, the lines between harassing and poking fun at each other have been blurred.

If someone titles a thread "My rearend is leaking and it smells funny" I'm obliged to comment.

However, I promise not to torment, bully or hurt others.

I hope that the mods will remain fair and remember that joking around is still a national pastime.

respectfully,

"Coach"

You know, if someone made that post, I would have no willpower... it would be the funniest thing anyone ever read.
