I "have" an Escort Detector covered all bands. Good unit. Kinda met the same fate as the GPS! In a drawer. The drone of the 87 above 75mph would drive me nuts, below 70 minor drone and can hear radio. Built in speed contol. Above 90 drone diminished at that speed the Escort worked very well! My wife didn't enjoy the blurr!!! My wife's nagging became the engine drones backup speed control at high speed.

Yea, the best 2 unless you want the Escort with the GPS that can download the photo radar locations.

The V1 and the Redline are equal in the tests, just differ a bit on individual tests.

The V1 has the arrows, nice feature. The Redline has antennas front and back.

I have an older Escort 7500, still works very well, even picked up a laser yesterday before I could see the cop car.
I had the 7500 sitting next to the V1 in a Ford Expedition towing to a race. They were almost equal in alerts.

I'm with Rich, if I get another, it will be one of these 2.

That being said, the tests I've seen show Bell & Whistler show very good results too.

I'll probably stick with Escort because I've had used Escorts for 25 years and neven had one complaint about them.

I don't think you'll get any unbiased opinions. People buy whatever the read the best review on, or whatever the coolest guy tells them to, then they stick it up their butt and harp on how it's the best detector in the world.

But 99% of Escort users haven't tried a V1 and vise versa.

I may send my V1 in for an update, I was really impressed with it for the first 5 years or so, but as of recently I'm questioning it's sensitivity. I also tried an escort Passport 8500 for a few months. Sensitivity at the time was excellent on both. I liked the passports ability to show frequencies, now it'd be perfect if you could program out those frequencies for common falses in areas you travel frequently. I felt like I was driving blind though without arrows. Nice to know where a signal is and how fast it's increasing, it gives you an idea if it's oncoming, stationary, or travelling ahead of you. And if it's a strong signal from behind you, you know not to slam on the brake lights and draw attention. People say the V1 is big, but the passport seemed the same size overall. The V1 is also very programmable, although most owners probably have never tried those features.

The choice also depends on state. In CA you want a detector with good laser and Ka capability, the rest is just noise.

You ready for this one?

"I never owned any radar detectors but I think brand X sucks because everyone else says so!!"

True I never owned one... but my best friend Jim has a Valentine 1 in his Z06 and I'm in that car enough to understand the functionality of it and it indeed appears to work well. Just from that experience if I was in the market I'd probably buy one of those.
However this is coming from a troll that doesn't own his own.

I think with the 9500 you can do some things like that but I haven't looked at it in a while. Seems I read that you could hit a buttom when you get a false on a road you frequently travel and it will ignore it the next time.

I do like tha arrows a lot on the V1. Keeps you from rubbernecking.

Fuzzbuster. Late 70's model. Big square sucker. I get stopped all the time but the cops start laughing and give me a warning. Probably a Valintine if I get one.

I had one of the origional Escorts, extruded alum housing that was 8 in. wide, 6 in deep and about 2 in thick.

Huge sum bitch but, it worked at the time.
