Here is the score:

LT1 ECM's for 1992/1993 Corvette's are nearly impossible to get. GM no longer provides them, and they are no longer avaliable via remans.

This leaves reconditioning firms, and so far, I have not had a great experience with them; in so much as it hasn't been fixed.

I suggest you get a used ECM from eBay BEFORE your current ECM fails. They do pop up from time to time and are usually in the $250-$300 range.

The upside, you normally get their chip, which means an extra chip to program!

You can get the ECM from a 92/93 Corvette (LT1) or the ECM from a 1993 Camaro/Firebird (LT1). They are the same part.

Just swap your chip.

The best vendor, from my observation, is "scoobthecoreman" or something to that effect. He sold one to me, and one to 93moneypit. Both worked excellently.

I still have my dead one, and will be figuring out my next step with it (the serial data line died, yet the rebuilder is saying it's fine...).

That is the end of this public service announcement.

Used in multiple gm vehicles and easy to come by, just swap your existing chip.

I sure am glad a couple years ago when I thought mine was dead I found a spare.

Now if we can just find a good rebuilder that will do it right!

16159278

IIRC, there may be an additional p/n but, that's what's on my 92 and also the p/n that was just shipped to me.

Cool, how much, if I can ask?

I tried my ebay one out, the 92 fired right up. The complete swap, trying the spare and putting the origional one back in took 20 minutes.

Be gentle pulling the chip.

People on ebay are crazy!! There were two that sold today. One for $250 and the other for $175. I was bidding on the one that sold for $175, but didn't want to push it much more. I'm pretty sure they had a high max bid in.

Alright I should end up with two of these. Both are out of wrecked Camaro's. After I get them and check them out I will be willing to pass one of them along.

I just received my ECM, and on the sticker it has the 16159278 p/n. Below that it says Factory Authorized remanufacturer module for Delphi Delco. In the corner the sticker it has Delphi Automotive. So was this repaired at the factory, or rebuilt later?

Don't worry about it. Mine says the same thing. I have all the records for the car from 30k so, unless it was put in before 30,000, mine came from the factory that way, who knows?
But, it's been runnin' ever since.

It didn't... Delphi didn't exist in 1992.

I spoke with Harlan Charles at Sebring... concerned about the unavailable components for the C4 and he indicated that - as did Chief Corvette Engineer Tadge Juetchder - that helping keep ALL Corvettes on the road is a priority.

In short, they are aware of the issue, but didn't seem aware of the specifics. Will this result in a bunch of ECM's popping up on the market tomorrow? Doubtful, but it could lead to a 3rd party GM contractor doing something about it, with GM support.
