I have been eying up my neighbors Miata for the past year or so. Its a very attractive little car, plus it does very well in the SCCA stock classes.

Today I fondled a new 2011 Miata at the Washington Auto Show and I was more than impressed with its static car show form. The car is nicely appointed and looks like a real quality build. The one I was playing with had the retractable hard top and upgraded trim including the Bose stereo system. I'd like to take one out for test drive to see how it handles and performs.

They handle like nothing else on earth. Light, responsive, predictable.

They are, in my opinion, low on power for all that handle.

They may be considered chick cars, but they are serious track weapons.

You are only confused now because your Vette is broken. Soon you will rediscover your first love and see the tarted up little foreign car for what it really is.

I know, I know! I'm fickle when I get around new cars. I love them all. The Cadillac CTS V is just incredible! The new Camaro convertible is fine as well. I also got a bunch of photos of the new Chevrolet Sonic I'll post up in the morning. Going to bed now....

Your not wrong about the Miata Don. With simple mods they can be auto-X dominators. Ability of the driver is also a key part of the package. I too fall in love with different cars all the time. My zero balance on car payments helps to keep me in check. If it's just New Car smell you crave, go hang around with your buds at the dealership for a few hours. It'll save you a small fortune When it comes to racing, remember, you don't have to be the track champion. You just have to please yourself. By improving my times I find that pleasure, especially if I can run faster than my wife.

Ask her if we can borrow it this weekend and we'll go tear up the track

Don - does Mrs. Vette know you've been fondling other cars of a younger variety????

Honestly, though, I think they are neat looking cars. But I also think a 70s vw bug is a neat looking car and I'd never own one of those, either.

Considered a chick car? Yes

Handles well? Yes but so does an Acura or any of the small cars out there.

Low on power? Horribly

Does well in SCCA? Yea but they're running against Civics and horrly low on power. The Spec Miata class is silly, a big crash fest.

But, I've never driven a Miata on the street. I do have over 2,000 miles in one though.

I took a track prepped out on NJMP

Neat little cars

Modern take on an MG

that said I'd rather have an MG, flaws and all.

Now the locals with LS1 powered Miatas....
