I'm supposed to go get my brothers old 928 next month and I really haven't put much of a scheme together. Still appears the cheapest route is to fly up, meet a hauler, help load the car and be back home when it gets to Fl. Really not to difficult. Just have to get er done, set dates, find a hauler etc. Should be lots of empty trucks heading down to pick up the snowbirds cars and bringin them back north.
I'm home today doing chores. Whoo Hoo!

Should be a good project, Tommy - looking forward to seeing it! Dark, dreary day, just starting to rain. Hope it stays warm enough to not turn to snow and ice, had quite enough of that.

Have a good one, yawlz!

Good Morning CGs!

Tommy Doubtfire has a nice ring to it - watch those hot flashes:

Resized Image

Not much on my agenda today. Sitting around relaxing and watching some movies on the easy chair. Kids are with grandma and wife is at work. Life is good.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Sounds like a good plan Tommy. Weather not to bad here today so will try and get ready for the rush that is coming.

My wifes 50th b-day coming up and I have a bit of a plan. The plan I do have, she mentioned this morning that we should not spend a lot of money so don't do anything big. Too late for that.

Let us endeavor to persevere today guru's. Have a good one!

Good day yesterday. The granite guy didn't show up on time, he showed up a half hour early! And it turns out that he's into snowmobiles, karts and used to own a 63 splitwindow.

Before he came, I stopped in the casino for a burger. Put $20 in a machine and hit $600.
I ran away from the casino and gave it to the granite guy as a down payment.

Hope today is like that.

Me either, I refuse to go in there more that 5 times a week,

Seriously though, this casino is closer to me that McDonalds, the food's good and inexpensive.
Usually I go down there at 5 p.m. for a late afternoon beer and only take $5 along.

But I do know that if you win enough money to fold over into a wad, you need to run away quickly and spend it or bank it.

Gotta run to the tile shop to order slate tiles for the backsplash.

Good morning guys....Bill is on a roll! Maybe I'll send him $20 too. Weather is going to be into the upper 60's today and near 80 tomorrow. Great week to live in SW Kansas. I'm finishing up that dining room table. The people want to stain and finish it themselves....GREAT, I don't have to do it. I'll have some pictures later.

Need to get back and do a little work, later.

I'm here!! Worked at the house this morning waiting for washer repairman while Kathie went off to the doctors office.

Good news from the engine builder. He has the heads back on. Remember last week there was an issue where the compression was too high. All better now with final compression falling in right around 10.8:1 I think he will be firing it up by the end of the week. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Bill - Wanna go to lunch?

Is it just me, or do the Vette catalogs sell the ugliest g*damn t-shirts ever known to man. Trying to find a basic t-shirt for my old man that doesn't look like a 6 year old would wear it is ridiculous. I don't want all the stupid hand drawn graphics with lame expressions on them...just say corvette, damn it.

I am really ranting this morning.....

Perhaps you might consider some tastfully done Guru T-shirts. That would make anyone happy.

Why don't they have a black T with a silver Guru.com on it? I would buy some. Also some small decals for the back glass. Just saying.....

Post your suggestion in the "supporting the guru" section. Andy has some plans that I can't release yet.

Tommy - thanks, but my father has a C3 and I was looking for something with C3 logos. My sister found a t-shirt on Amazon that's not generation specific but looks nice. It's really more of a C1 flag, but oh well:

Then again, there's always this one:

They do, but they only put one sleeve in the box.

I like that first link, Tommy. The other one is fugly. I wanted this, but it only comes in size medium anywhere on the net:

Hey guys, I got a couple of pictures of the table I am building uploaded.

The top upside down fitting the apron.

The pedestal mounted to the slides and legs on one end.

The other two legs awaiting installation on pedestal

The table assembled, still needing routing of decorative edge.

I still have the two leaves to cut to size.

Ok, this is possibly the most entertaining daily chat thread in a while. Of course most of it is at Matthew's expense.

TeeBee, that is one nice looking table. good work.

Bill, that is a good pick on the backsplash.

Matthew, I can't remember which vendor it was but at Carlisle one of them had plain t's with the gen specific logo on them. I got a red one with the C4 logo on it.

I would have liked to see the glue up on the top. It would be nice to have clamps that big. I only have one 3 footer and 2, 2 foot ones.

Jeff - that first one is from GM's campaign a few years back - there were a handful of cool billboards/ads with photos and slogans like that. I'd love a big poster for my garage.

Thanks guys, yes I do the pedestals and legs normally. I acquired this pedestal from a furniture store (it had some very slight damage), but the legs I make as well as everything else. Bill, the table top is in two halves 24" x 48" I use only five clamps to do the glue up. I think that I have a "couple" more clamps than you do.

Check out the back wall in this picture (and I've added quite a few more since then)

Marcus, if I could be assured of being able to build things full time, I wouldn't mess with it. I love building furniture, but most people want it "NOW", can't wait, and don't want to pay for hand built.

On another note, the little black spots on the bottom of the legs are the leveling feet. I just looked at those pictures and figured you guys might be wondering what they were.

Not even close Matt. I found a couple pictures of two office units I built a few years back that was a TON of work, but one I'm very proud of.

No, but it used to. Norn used to show how to make jigs, build stuff with the average home shop.

Now, he just shows off the free power tools he gets (advertising). Like a dedicated keyhole machine mounted on a stand, geeze.

Used to be a good show.

Wouldn't that be: Craftsman - Tom & Ron, Wood-butchering (the rest of us)?
