She's my first vette...
Runs very well, previous owner neglected some basics... Shocks, Ball Joints, Vaccuume Hoses, etc.

Nothing major so far... I replaced the BB...

I see I'm missing the cover for the Distributor... I'll need to find that somewhere.

Attaching photos... Be gentle... she's a work in progress.

Nice! I like the hood stripes and the red paint. Part of the fun is getting them fixed up.

Thanks! I like her...

So far, I've replaced the Brake Booster... "As one guy said... a real test of patience"

Replaced the shocks all the way around.

Replaced some vacuume hoses.

Bought the ball joints (upper and lower)... will be replacing them soon.

Bought a good pair of flowmasters from a junkyard because one muffler is rusted out.

Need to replace the Distributor cap cover (as you can see in the picture)

Need to get some spark plug wire looms...

You know... get it back into shape.

Oh and of course clean it... She was REALLY dirty when I got her... these pictures are after I got rid of the surface grime.

I really like those hood strips.

The map sensor bracket is upside down. The map sensor should sit on top of it with the screws going down through it.

Multec injectors. Hopefully yours are in better condition than mine were.

You should do something with that front plate. There is a filler panel behind it that you can remove so that it's not sticking out like that.

I think there was someone on thirdgen.org selling a couple of the dist. covers.

Sorry, not tearing your Vette apart. It is a very sharp looking ride.

Congrats!! Welcome to the addiction.

Cool! I'm a fan of '91's. Last year of the gen.1 sbc, L98. First year new front fascia and Zr1 style rear. 2nd year redesigned dash. Some other changes, P.S. cooler on all models and power delay feature (leaves stereo, power windows on after key off for 15 min. or until door opened). Good luck.

Look's nice!

You need to make friends with a power washer!

Serious suggestion: My 92 had become so caked up with grime from oil leaks at the front of the engine, that cleaning was beyond useless. Clean off, week later, leaks made it a mess again!

I actually ended up removing the engine and cleaning the timing cover, oil pan, etc, OFF the engine!! I also cleaned off the cross member and steering rack. There was at least a 1/2" deep layer of grime EVERYWHERE@.

This proved to be the fastest most effective way of cleaning up stuff.

No problem at all... Appreciate the comments...

I would like to see some pics of a clean stock engine so I can better see where and how to run the spark plug wires etc.

Definately agree with the power washer comment... after I get my suspension issues corrected that's the next project... Clean that engine compartment. and get rid of that wad or red wire leading to the Alt.

I am sure we have pics of plug wire routing... IIRC, they went behind the valve cover and down parallel to the cover to the plug. The loom were these little plastic things.

If you haven't bought it already, get a copy of the Helm Factory Service Manual for your year. It will save you a bundle on repair costs.

Maybe you could use something like this to organize the plug wires?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBa ... &ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I think they make them with red pieces too.

The last pic. is the way the spark plug wires came from the factory. The front left bracket is still there on your picture. The proper plastic looms are available from vendors. I am still using them with some modifications but there are easier ways to route the wires that still look good.

Car looks great! Good to finally see some pics. There are a lot of little things you can do to clean up the engine bay. Air pump elimination, throttle body bypass, you can repaint the valve covers, etc. Start out a little at a time and you'll be amazed how much progress you make. As far as the spark plug looms, there are lots of different ones out there, and they can get pricey!
