Came out to drive the Vette to work this afternoon and found a puddle of DOT 3 under the car. Has anyone heard of a slave cylinder blowing out while sitting in the garage? I didn't get a chance to get under her, could be the resivour but couldn't tell. Oh well,it begins again......

Was there a time when you pushed on the peddle and you felt it was stiffer and then worked ok?

Well. Finally got her on a lift, She needed inspected anyways. The puddle turned out to be coolant, One of the water pump bolts is leaking. That was a relief. I then told my buddy, who is an inspection mechanic to just inspect it. FAILED, Ouch. I now need 2 rear wheel bearings and 2 outer tie rod ends and that means an alignment too. Can anyone recommend a good wheel bearing? Delco's are out of this world in price, if you can find them! I was happy just driving along in my car trying to forget about spending all last summer with her on jackstands. Steve, No I didn't but the weekend before me and the Wife had a moment together when an F150 pulled out in front of us on Rt51 just past Whited st. and I had to stand her on her nose. GOD bless Hawks pads! Jaa, I was standing by to replace the slave. I already have a new GM one on the parts shelf. I plan on going Moog for the front tie rod ends, but dont know about the rears. Thanks for the replies Guys!

Everone of my friends in Bakersfield complained about how much I paid for Hawk Pads. I was going to put in the C5 system. After about a week of driving with Hawk Pads I had a simular thing happen. Love those pads.
I am waiting on a replacement transmission for my DN4+3 transmission. Can feel the money pain.

Money spent on brakes is never wasted! Much cheaper and less dramatic than bodywork! I've been doing searches on rear wheel bearing and it seems that some teflon washers can be be replaced and the things tightened up???? What are SKF's anyhow? I don't have time for another search today as I have to go to work, In my truck. Damn.

SKF is a manufacturer and seem to be the best choice for C4 bearings.

There is one teflon washer each side, available only at the dealer. If the washers disintegrate you will likely get a clicking noise.

Hubs are sealed and tightening them up is a very temporary fix, if it fixes them at all.

Not sure about that. Here is the part number for the rear hub in SKF for a '95 model: SKF Part # BR930024. I looked around before I bought mine and bought from Rock Auto using their link here on the site. Be sure to enter the discount code for an extra 5% off.

For the rear they should be the same part number for 88 and up.

If you need to replace your rear outer tie rod ends - moog is the answer. Any tie rod end or ball joint - moog is the answer.

SKF or Timken for the hub assembly - its going to be expensive. But I'd rather change a c4 rear hub than a c5 rear hub. You don't have to take apart as much of the rear suspension to change the c4 hub.

I went with SKF for the bearings and Moog for the ends. And yes, It was exspensive. I have Friday off and I know how I'm spending it. Thanks for the advice.

Bearings are a pretty easy swap, just have a good sized breaker bar in case the nut doesn't want to break loose.

It didn't take that long using my buddy's lift. The spindle nuts were loose. Someone had already been in there. The washers were greased but the splines were dry and rusty. I cleaned it all up and greased it with Hi temp grease and added the new washers. When I got it home I backed it in and out of my garage (the only time I could hear the "clicking") and no clicks! I was meticulous with the torque settings. Now I just need to get her alignment checked and I'm rolling again. Thanks to all you guys for your input.
