So, I was at Mid-Ohio this past weekend watching the Mazda RX-8s belch all kind of fire out the exhaust. To the eye it was one huge flame. But at 1/800 second exposure, you can clearly see 4 distinct exhaust pulses ( five if you count that little fire ring to the left). I thought it was pretty cool.

It is ubercool. Don't believe I've ever seen a car burn rubber quite like that.

Bill, I have heard unmuffled rotary motors in dirt midget cars. Amazing how loud they are.

Yea, I just couldn't believe it the first time I heard one.

Humm, never saw a rotary in a midget, interesting.

Great photo.

I hate the sound of miatas at the track. RX-7's are no better. It's like a horde of angry drunk bees whizzing around your head. I know why those guys wear ear plugs.

Formula Mazda's are even worse, they run extremely rich at idle and if you're wsitting in the car on pre-grid with a bunch, you get gassed out. And for some reason, the fools that drive them continually blip them on pre-grid.

Stinky & Noisy.

Summit Point, WV, 1989... This dude was running an RX-2 in GT2... sitting at the last turn, I could hear this thing run through the gears as it cleared turns 2 and 3.
