GM CGs
I got a late night call last night from one of my long time friends in Boston. Rarely do I get a call like that so it is almost always bad news. My buddy just needed someone to talk to. He had a fire in the apartment he lives in in the bottom floor of his moms house. Mom is up there in age, 86. so he stays there to keep an eye on her. He had stacked a bunch of papers on his desk and bought a fireproof safe to store the important papers and family photos. One of those transformer type plugs had got so hot it ignited the papers on the desk. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night. He awoke in a stupor taking a minute to figure out what the hell all the noise was about. He went upstairs and found his mom on the front porch. They both ran across the street and banged on the neighbors door. It took for what seemed like forever for the neighbor to answer the door. When he did answer the door he said "What the hell is so important that your banging on my door in the middle of the night?. We have a fire, call the fire department! The neighbor complied. The fire dept showed up and put out the fire thoroughly trashing my buds apartment in the process. He just needed to vent. He was getting mom set up for admittance to assisted living, his condo in Hyannis suffered some serious water damage to the bedrooms as a result of a leak in a neighbors condo. He has a high stress job in the big city with a big corporation that requires a lot of detail planning, coordination and meetings with department and company heads. He called to get a load off his mind. I'm glad I could be there for him if only to listen. He told me how lucky I was to have a wife like Sue and living the life we have chosen. He also told me he was envious. He's 59 years old, had a major heart attack, has five stents, and works in a high stress environment. (Loves his job). Sees what I've done with my life, the house, retirement (though I bust my ass most of the time) and took the time to pay us a compliment. I have to admit he's right. Overall I love my life, love my house, love my wife and son and really don't wish to trade lives with anybody. Did you know that happy people have a longer life expectancy? So with that ...............

Greetings! Nice you could be there for your friend, Tommy - sounds like he was on overload. The snow they had predicted for today is failing to materialize, so I guess I'll take that. We could use some moisture in some form, though - it has been dry as a bone for quite a stretch.

A friend of mine saw this, looks like high-brow entertainment:

Have a good one, yawlz!

Ya me either...I just like to say it because it reminds me when I could take the thrashin....Glad you could be there for your friend....he may need to repot himself but I am sure he does like the power.....that reminds me of a song...

A dickhouse presentation.

That certainly beats any Real Wives of anyplace program.
If they lived in Homestead back in the day I probably would have partied with the Whites. There's more families like that in America than any of us could imagine. Better to watch made up, canned laughter redneck/sitcom shows than ones that depict the real lives of anyone. But if you must see it. Gangland is a good documetary of the wild bucs that run unrestrained across the nation. (Until incarcerated or killed) There are some really dangerous mofos out there. I've sat with some of them. Man oh man it's nice to live out in farm country. (Though there are some wild bucs runnin around out here too). Dammit ... I keep puttin off going to the gun shop. Gotta do it.

That's quite the way to clean the Glock. I wonder if I have to wear the same outfit in order to do it?

Tommy, that's quite a complement your friend gave you. Last week at P-T conferences, I had a mother of one of my students tell me some things about her son (that I had no idea about) and she told me that he doesn't have any respect for male authority figures.....any of them. Stems from problems with his father when he was younger (dad is no longer in the picture). Anyway, she said that he had asked her a question (male oriented), that neither she, her current hubby, grandma or grandma's hubby could answer, he said "That's OK, I'll ask Mr. Bachman at school tomorrow." Which may not seem like a big deal, but she said that, that say a terrific amount of respect he has for me. It nearly made me cry, that I have that kind of respect from a kid who doesn't give any to other male authority figure.

I'm thinking she should do a series on shop safety or how to operate the equipment properly........you would not have any problems with getting the boys attention.....

Funny how you turn around one day and that authority figure is you. It's like when my friends come to me for marriage advice and I have to suppress the urge to look behind me and see if there is someone else in the room.

Thanks guys...just about the time you think you aren't effective, something like this happens and slaps you in the face (or up side the head with a 2 x 4) to wake you up and let you know you have more affect than you realize.

Yea Marcus, I'm pretty sure that she would get their attention, but then I'd have to tell them to get their hands OUT of their pockets!
