Must have been Speedventures, they were there this Saturday. I've never run that course but seems like there is a lot of track crammed into that parking lot. Maybe not too noob friendly, but hard to say without being there, maybe just a perfect storm.

At least he didn't hit a light pole. Probably some new wheels and suspension parts and he'll be back on the road. Body looks fine.

Is that his head in the pic? Looks like he about fell out of his seat! Other cars would have rolled in that situation.

The text indicates a combo of cold tires, cold track and driver error.

I wonder of the suspension pickup points failed, too. I know the C5 had issues with that.

Looking at the vid, I don't think he ever learned about "roll on the throttle".

Lol, it's always driver error, but hopefully the layout is designed with brain farts and high HP in mind. He was actually going parallel that curb, just everything went as wrong as possible.

What issues? That's how internet rumors start...

I looked at it real close and swear I saw improperly torqued lug nuts. Tech should have caught that. Most course related issues could be avoided with a competent tech inspection.

From the video I don't see where there was any problem with course layout at all. Matter of fact it looked fairly similar to the cone density we use. His spin started a good distance from his area of impact with the curb. NCCC only requires 25ft between a cone and hard objects like light poles and curbs. However, I haven't seen any of our participants slide that badly over the ten events I have officiated in the past few years. He didn't even seem to be going that fast at all. Seemed like ice out there. Cold tires? Its freakin' California. We do this in 45 degree weather and rain!!!

@BillH

Understeer or oversteer?

Horsepower estimate?

Torque estimate?

Don't matter.

If you take any C5/6 and put it to the floor in a low gear with the wheels even slightly turned, it will oversteer - horsepower baby.

Isn't the traction control supposed to kick in to help avoid such issues.......unless he had it turned off.....for the speed he was going the thing just took off like it was on ball bearings......weird!

Dunno, turning off the traction control is the first thing I do when I get in a Corvette.

He may have had it off, you may be able to overrun it by holding the gas to the floor, etc.

Bottom line is he put his foot to the floor and caused his own problem.

There's very few places where you can floorboard even on a racetrack taking a 90 degree in 3rd (unless you have a bunch of experience). The other big thing is where the chassis is at, subtle (incorrect) movements in the steering wheel, brakes (stabbing) or throttle (letting off and getting back on) can turn the chassis against you.

On a big track, the traction control can help newer drivers, experienced drivers turn it off and run faster lap times.
