Good Morning CGs!

Both kids were up last night...all night. Ugh. #2 has a little fever and #1 has a stuffy nose. Sleep is overrated, anyway

We were supposed to get some "nice" weather yesterday but that didn't happen. Today should be a mix of rain/snow in the morning but 35 in the afternoon. Better than 15. I'll take it.

Oh well. I have nothing more to add.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Well I'm up, showered, dressed and ready to go. Todays mission .... the 928 clutch. After delaying this long enough, we're picking up the clutch plates and bringing them to Miami clutch this morning. They say they have done two sets already and say they should be able to redo these. If not we have back up plan B which is to send them to my nephew in Georgia. He works in a clutch shop and they can rebuild and/or make the needed replacement parts. The 928 is back on the front burner. Full day ahead and a busy week. Up, up and away ..............

Howdy! I got my chores all done over the weekend, so I'm sure the Mrs. is cooking up a new list. I think I'll start hitting the tanning place this week in an effort to change my color from pasty white to pasty tan before we go to Mexico next month.

Entertaining games yesterday - interesting to see a couple of defensive battles for a change. Probably a long ride home for the players who turned the tide at the ends of those games.

Have a good day, yawlz!

Stayed up way to late last night and am dragging now.....we had a great day yesterday at least to about 4 pm. Me and UBoy took the guns down and shot up a bunch of stuff. Took the shotguns also and did some blue rocks in. While out the weather changed and it was snowing by the time we got everything cleaned up........got about 2 or 3 inches.

Geez I got a lot of work to do this week......nuts! I am in DNFBS where the sun is warm mood.....

TB go ahead and get that kit and I'll send you some bucks. It's only my drivers seat that is doing it......thanks...

I am trying to think of something inspirational to say......can't.....

I did run across this quote the other day.....If voting made any difference......They wouldn't let us do it....Mark Twain.

More later.......

Good morning guys...It's a beautiful morning here in central Kansas. The same front that moved through and dropped the snow on Marcus was moving through when the wife and I were coming out here yesterday. Drove through some 60mph winds. Then the sleet and a little snow. But it's didn't stick and today the sun is shining brightly.

Don't worry about the $ Marcus, I'll order a kit and send half to you. I reviewed that procedure three or four times yesterday and think it won't be too bad.

Don, wasn't that the game where the kicker missed the field goal at the end? The look of disbelief on the faces of nearly everyone told the whole story.

How many yards was that field goal attempt? Being a kicker is tough....the whole enchilada was riding on that kick.......geez.....

After a visit to the “Pleasure Parlour”,
a man notices green lumps on his willy,
so, off he goes to the doctor’s.

“That’s serious” says the doctor.
“You know how wrestlers get cauliflower ears?”

“Yes” says the man, nodding seriously.

“Well” says the doctor, “You’ve got brothel sprouts.”

The clutch nighmare continues. I went to Miami Clutch. They can redo the clutch plates no problem. My intermediate plate has two broken cast iron tabs. The plate is pretty much unobtainable. Could go the salvage yard route for a maybe. I brought it to a local machine shop. The shopman has over 40 years of exprience and he says he can make a new one IF he can get the cast iron material. The shopowner told me "It aint gonna be cheap". They're gonna see what they can do for me. Guess I'll see if the can get the pilot bearing out for me too while I'm there. The clutch parts are the only thing holding us up. I'm on it heavy now and won't rest till the solution is found. Then the engine can be put back together and reinstalled the rotors, calipers, pads, lines, fuel pumps and a few other misc. items can be acquired and installed. After that we should be ready to turn thre key. No time schedule, just moving it in the right direction. I screwed up bigtime in the beginning. Should have changed it over to a GM drivetrain but there's too many dollars in the engine to do that now. So restoration it is.

Clutch question. The clutch shop thinks I should redo the clutch in kevlar. Our mechanaic says the standard lining should be sufficient. The clutch shop backs the kevlar while the other material has no guarantees. Does the kevlar have a firmer grab since it's primarily used in race applications. Would I be better off just going with a standard reline? $360 standard $500 Kevlar estimates. Thoughts?

Yeah your correct... but I can't blame the entire loss on his one kick. They screwed up lots of opportunity. They had the game in the last two minutes but the receiver fumbled the ball in the end zone after catching the pass!! I feel bad for the kicker but I hope the rest of the team realizes that his one mistake was no worse than the rest of the "one" mistakes others made during the game.

This is actually a very busy shop. My material will take two to three days to get in. Then I've got a 7 to 10 day wait before it will be finished. They had about 25 work orders in process. I think the owner did it because he liked the story line. A 33 year old car with the need of an out of production part. The owner and machinist were excited about undertaking the project. As for a large scale production; I think this small shop enjoys the day to day variety of different jobs for different people. At least that's what I picked up. These are a couple of old geezers just doing what they love. Both of them already qualify for social security and work because they want to. Repetition of this task would be better undertaken by a large scale production unit. The retail price for a new intermediate plate (oem) is $950, if there were any to be had. The repair of mine is gonna run about $700 (guesstimate).
There's money to made and I'm sure a pent up demand. I think a lot of 928s are gonna fade away because of the difficulty in finding parts. We're gonna check out an 81 928 (auto) as a possible donor part car for future parts needs. The owner wants $1500 and it has a clear title. It could easily be worth it.

Don't forget. When we undertook this project I knew it was going to cost me more than if we bought a very good 928 in running condition. My brothers ex told me I should have taken the shift knob and moved it to a running car. She was really onto something there. Unfortunately I had already committed to the tear down and rebuild. Hell, even my Porsche mechanic was trying to sway me that way. He told me I could buy one for $7500 to $8500. It's not the smartest move I ever made. But then again, at that time I didn't know I would soon be moving. It will get done over time (and money). I'm kinda in the same boat as BillH only he's gonna have a 1967 Corvette when he's done. I'm just gonna have a run of the mill, plain Jane 928. And Bill has a lot better luck than me at the casino.

Evening guys, I got home about an hour ago from Wichita. Well, it's a confirmed deal. I'll have a complete knee replacement in mid-May. I was opting for late June originally and going on my trip to California first, but the Dr pointed out that I would "probably" enjoy the trip more if I had a good knee to site-see on. I had to agree with him, so it looks like I'll get the knee done May 15th. That's actually a couple days before school is out, but that's when the opening was, so I'll let someone else finish those last two days.

The recurring theme I keep hearing from healthcare professionals who look at my x-rays is #1 "I can't believe your not in tremendous pain." #2 "I'm surprised you're walking at all, let alone without cane or walker".

I feel so much better about this Dr. than the other one I saw. This guys specializes in knee replacements, he uses a different knee than the other guy...one with replaceable wear parts "When these wear out, if they ever do, I can replace the wear parts out in 15 minutes." The other guy says "..in 20 years you are going to have to go through this again, that's why I'd rather wait until you're 60."

I'm actually looking forward to having this done. I spoke to a knee replacement patient Saturday night, his wife said, "I got my husband back."

67 rear leaf spring (replacement) $250, correct reproduction leaf sprong $750.

My buddie (the locomotive guy) and I screwed around going to some machine shops and some engine machine shops just to BS.

Stopped at a casino, I turned $5 into $85 so I bought burgers at Fuddruckers. We did stand in my shop and look at the 67 for about an hour. Sure was fun but didn't really move the 67 forward at all.
