Good Morning CGs!

Well, #2 is still suffering from his nasty virus. He was so lethargic last evening around 6:30 it was sad. Very out of character. Gave him a bath at 6:45 and that brought his flu down, really pepped him up. He went to bed and woke up at 1:30 or so tossing and screaming. Fever was up to 104.2. Wife wanted to take him to the ER but I told her it was a waste of time. I'm more old school. A few minutes in the sink with some tepid water and his fever went down, he went to sleep. When I touched his forehead this morning he didn't feel too warm so I hope this finally broke.

Just heard on the news that the G8 meeting has been moved from Chicago to Camp David. I'm happy. The NATO summit will still be here. I'm not looking forward to the idiot protesters and problems it's gonna cause for the city.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Greetings! Hope your little guy is feeling better soon, Matt! My wife picked up some kind of ear-ache and sinus problem the last few days, so she is miserable. I have to hurry to get to sleep before her, since in her current condition when she sleeps she sounds like a cross between a chainsaw and Gentle Ben.

Ordered a new garage door opener last night, made in Germany, rave reviews:

http://www.homedepot.com/buy/doors-wi ... ge-door-opener-89143.html

My old one was a Wayne Dalton i-Drive, which had no rail, mounted directly to the shaft on the door. Great idea, lousy execution. It was problematic from Day 1, and bit the dust after less than 7 years and one major warranty repair a few years back. Hopefully the new one lives up to the reviews.

A friend sent me this link, very cool Civil War pics:

http://www.theatlantic.com/infocus/20 ... part-1-the-places/100241/

That's enough typing for now - have a good day, yawlz!

Morning guys...Hope that ends the temp, Matt. Brad, my wife is the same way. I went to bed early last night in the hopes that I would be asleep before she came up, didn't happen. Had to cover my head with the pillow. This morning she asked about that. ;shrug

Hopefully things will start to return to normal here. Funeral isn't until Thursday....seems like a long time to me.

Weather here is supposed to be near 80 today, then by Thursday looking for the chance of snow and highs in the 30's.

Being an engineer, I had to see what's up with this.
Kind of a different twist on the same old. But it looks like it will work as good as the others.
It's a bit hard to believe that the desigh is that much quieter but let us know.

Good to know about the I-Drive, I considered buying that at one time.

I grew up 20 minutes from Gettysburg. I've spent a lot of time there. Probably the best civil war national park.

Oh, yea, Andy.
I sat in Devil's Den when I was probably 7, my grade school took field trips there every year. I used to go to the battlefield even when I was a teenager.
The National Park Service guides there are awesome with their descriptions of the battles done at the exact locations (like Little Round Top).

A bunch of my antiques in the house were purchased in shops in Gettysburg.

If you ever get to see Gettysburg by Ken Byrnes on PBS, do so. It's long, nothing but real pictures and diary accounts, like 5 - 2 hour segmants.

I've been to Gettysburg...pretty amazing place. Want to really feel the worst feeling in your life? Visit a concentration camp in Europe. I visited one called "Buchenwald" when I was there...the feelings that will invoke in you are unbelievable.

That "strange feeling" comes over me whenever I visit a place that is reknowned in history. The Colloseum and the Vatican both struck me that way as well as castles I visited when stationed in Europe. Growing up in Boston, history was all around. In some of the photos in Brads link, several people appear as ghosts. I've seen stuff like that.[Insert eerie music here]

Matt, hope the baby improves soon.

Ok ... The story

Yesterday we buried Candy and then got busy with a few things. I cleaned up some stuff around the yard, spread the hay that was no longer needed, cleaned her bowl and moved her pigloo over by the shed. I was sitting around when Sue came home at 05:30. She said she had to go by a friends house and speak with her about an issue. Did I want to come along? Yeh! What the hell. The friend of hers we were going to visit has an animal farm. When I say animal farm I mean snakes, rats, alligators, wolves, coyotes, lemurs, a spotted leapord, assorted primates, tortoises, pot bellied pigs, dogs and others I forgot to mention. This "thing" she went to talk about was picking up a baby pot bellied pig. They showed me the pig .... I looked at Sue and said NO! They talked about animals as they looked over several pigs. I looked at her once again and said NO! Her friend said to me; What do you mean NO? .... YES! This friend operates a pig rescue. (Told you guys before, we know a lot of people involved in animal rescue). Didn't matter what I said. My wife was determined to bring home the new pet our friend had given us. They usually sell the piglets but she offered us one as a gift. She knew all about Candy and wanted to do something for Sue.

Ladies and gentlemen; Let me introduce Dottie. I named her Dottie because she has random black dots around her pink body. The pink skin is of a special breed as is the size. She should be no more than 40 to 45 lbs. I saw the mother and the mother is about 40 lbs max. You know how these deals often work. Who's home more? Who does the feeding most of the time? Who's going to get to spend lots of time with the new pet? .......... Well, without further delay,

Dottie

PS, rugrat #2 seems to have broken his fever and is doing better according to wifey.

Spoke too soon. By 4:00 he had gotten worse than last night and was back enroute to the doctor. Once again, the doctor did nothing and my wife is pissed. His fever at the doctor's office was 105.3. Doctor said give him tylenol more often. Once again, wife not happy since we've been pumping him full of medicine since Friday.

I guess we just have to wait it out.

Dayum, Matt. Hope it turns around soon. Do all you can to keep that fever down as much as possible? What does WEB MD suggest? Probably says "Contact your physician" I'm sure you're checking all possible avenues.

Basically it's a viral infection. The internet stuff I've seen says time and your body's natural response is what fights it off.

Yeah, that sucks, Matt. Not much you can do but keep him hydrated and comfortable. Lot of nasty crap going around, hope he snaps out of it pronto!
