Good Morning Gurus! I'm off to another day of autocross. I'm not sure how much autocross I'll get to do since we are short handed and I only have one other person helping me with the timing chores. I'm sure we will figure it out.

I will be driving the Mazda today - I need to keep with one vehicle for a while and not get hung up on switching back and forth too much.

Marcus asked regarding the "young kids" at the autocross events.

Marcus, we will see today. There will be lots of new Z06s getting spanked by younger drivers with better reflexes and more nimble vehicles. Z06 = Dragstrip, Road Course It is hobbled on our tight little courses we set up. It still outperforms the other cars in its class and with a good driver watch out. However, a lot of the guys that come down with new Z06s don't know how to drive them very well. I'm sure I wouldn't drive one very well without some time behind the wheel. I drove my friend Jim's 2009 Z06 and almost immediately swung the ass end around turning out of an intersection quickly.

Have a Sunny Sunday all! I'll check back later this evening

Howdy!

Pretty morning here and a nice cool start of the day. It won't last. By mid dday I'll be looking for ways to stay inside. My wife wanted me to join her and some friennds on a trip to Butterfly World. I gracefully declined. At least she's going to see it with some good company. I'm gonna do some .... er ....ahh .... something. Don't quite know yet but I'm sure I'll be doing something. I think some home clean up then boat washing. I need to run the boat for awhile in the yard. i still haven't gone to the bay with it. I know I'll be kicking my ass for not using it. The bay is really nice once you get the boat in the water.

Morning guys...cold front moved through i the middle of the night. Much cooler and windy. Had a high yesterday of 102 (Not official but on the bank), it was hot. Today lower 70's and maybe, just maybe, some rain. I'd like to get the Vette down and swap headlights, but don't know of that is going to happen.

Good Morning CGs!

Went to a wedding last night. Stayed much later than I wanted to. I was tired and the allergies were killing me. I had one light beer and that was about it. Watching RR #2 this morning while FIL, wifey, and RR #1 are at the county fairgrounds looking at chickens, etc. Can't wait to get out of here and do some work.

Landscapers finished up 95% of the work yesterday. They got a late start because the rain this week slowed up their other jobs. Their chainsaw broke so he has to come back Monday to finish cutting out a stump. Then that part is almost done except for my additional work.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

I agree with that.....to a point. And I am not arguing with you, the Guru Stig, but doesn't a lot depend on the course set up and if it plays to the smaller light type cars or to a setup that rewards the horsepower type cars like Corvettes?

Driver skill is still an important factor. I am sure you could beat me around any course if we were given the same car to drive....but in autoX I can also see a mechanical advantage just in the type of car you drive on any given track......

Don't get me wrong. I love Butterfly World. They buy from us. We have hoobyists and students from UF come by the nursery all the time collecting samples. Some bring cacoons to open at the nursery, hopefully to establish colonies. We sell plants that attract butterflies. It's a good market.
You can google us at Casey's Corner Nursery, Homestead Fl and read about us. We don't have a website, mainly because we don't want to deal with it. We get walk ins and calls all the time just from people finding us on the web. We also have a well established reputation in South Florida. Many clients come to us from seeing our work or meeting my wife at the plant shows and sales. She loves what she does. For her it's a labor of love. (and profit) You have to make a living.

Here is a link to Butterfly World

http://butterflyworld.com/start.html

Check out the bird and butterfly guides. I enjoy the natural habitats around South Florida. Birds, insects and spiders. aquatic life, astronomy, plants and wildlife in general. I miss a lot of it because my vision has deteriorated over time. I like to listen to the birds in the morning and outside of music minutes I generally keep it quiet around here. Peace, solitude and mother nature with the occasional sounds of the lawnmower, boat motor or the idle of a sportscar. I'm a happy camper. Make no mistake about it.

On a tight course, a smaller, shorter wheelbase car can turn tighter, of course. But on a tight course a Go-Kart will beat every car there.
Besides, Corvettes and Miatas aren't even in the same class so who cares? (Neither is a Kart).

Driver skill (and car setup) will determine who's fast. Moving from a C6 to a Z06 will not.

Cars drive on the street, cones are for ice cream.

And horsepower doesn't win races, handling and torque are #2 on the list----the driver is #1.

Greetings! Had to sack in since we had sleepus interruptus numerous times last night - wicked rain, wind and thunder off and on starting around 2AM. I tied everything down on the deck before heading to bed - earlier in the day, our big BBQ almost rolled down the stairs, and chairs, etc. were blowing around like crazy. Now it's just wet and dreary, so it looks like another day of indoor chores.

Have a good one, yawlz!

Yep. We deal in a lot of Florida natives. She shows people what and where to plant. The less yardwork the better and little if any water. I use the word (we) but it's mostly she. I help but mostly maintenance and delivery related tasks. I worked over 20 years in customer service. To be honest, I'm burnt out. That's why I'm more of a lone wolf now. I like to work alone. (Unless it's hard and tedious work) Then I take all the help I can get.

Those are some beautiful landscape photos... I would like to do that here at my place.
Gonna be hot here today (record for our area they said), the 'super moon' last night really wasn't all that 'super' from here. Looked more like a normal full moon. But, it was pretty and at least nice outside. My arms and crap are sore and bruised from the car yesterday, planned to clean the air filter and dust off the rest of the car today and take it out for a bit.
Have a good Sunday...

I've been working on the boat the last few hours. I washed it and cleaned it up. Wasn't to bad because I just did in in February. I ran the motor, adjusted the idle and emptied the fuel seperator twice after running it to get rid of any water settled in the tank. There was a time, years back, when I'd rather fish than fu......nevermind ....... When I got the Vette my bopating adventures slowed. When I autocrossed it slowed even more. Now I'm not doing $#!+. I'm semi retired. I had all these dreams of things I was gonna do. I'm gonna go to the track more, I'm gonna takeout the boat, I'm gonna work on the cars. I'm gonna read more, I'm gonna watch some movies, I'm gonna travel more. Now I'm doing less of all of them. But everything works pretty good .... except for my lawnmower.

Marcus, I got the lights installed.....no more problems seeing at night and no more worry about the glaring. These housing have the correct cutoff at the top and are great. They were pricey, but I can now see at night.

Now to the pictures......uh, I got so involved with putting them in that I didn't take any.....sorry. I'll take some next time I have it down.
