Good Morning CGs!

Had another nasty t-storm last night. Doesn't look like any damage by us, but I know there was hail south of us earlier in the day. On that topic, got my homeowner's insurance bill the other day. Went up another $100 this year. It has more than doubled since we got it 6 years ago. Went and talked to the agent, she told me we have the best policy going, don't change it because the new policies they write aren't as good. I trust my agent, they are family acquaintances. We upped my deductible from $500 to $1000 and it dropped $270. She said that was pretty amazing. She said the new policies will drop $40 with that kind of change. Said more and more people are going to $2500 and even $5000 deductibles. Wow.

On a plus note, got my property tax bill and it dropped $600. Can you believe that. I'm happy. Of course that means according to them my house it worth crap, but I'm not going anywhere so I don't care.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Landscaping in the front yard is almost done. I still have some work to do on the retention wall and a few miscellaneous things. But here is how it looks so far, we are very happy with the way it turned out:

Good morning....Matt that looks nice, although, in my opinion it looked pretty good before. Whatever makes the little lady happy.

I've been up and sprayed the edge of the counter tops I made for those cabinets. Yesterday evening I got one of the cabinets installed.

One week away from leaving for my surgery and only four more days with my seniors. Graduation Saturday. I'm sure that this one will go fast.

I'm still covering my own losses, Matt. No homeowners insurance. I'm getting hurricane shutters and accordians put on soon. Already put the down payment. Should be done in the next month. Still have to get a well hole dug and a connection pipe mounted for the fire department to be able to get a water source. Without those two items my insuramce is almost 10k, and I ain't gonna pay it. No way, no how. Even after I get both those done I still may not get it. 5k a year for what? Of course, if my house burnt to the ground I'd be screwed. That happens but not all too common. Usually it's from grease fires, faulty wiring or woodland fires if you live in the woods. Hurricanes should not be a major threat once I get buttoned up. The first thing to go is the roof. That's about 15k for me, and I've already save 10k by not paying this first year. Add the 5k I don't pay next year and that's a new fricken roof right there. Not having insurance is a gamble. You can save big money. But you can lose bigger money in a catastrophic event. Which reminds me. As it was explained to me; If I were to have my house built today, from the bottom up,it would cost $250k. That's what my insutrance is based on. The county has my house assessed at half that but you don't insure assessed, you insure replacement value. That being said, as long as I don't get hit by a tornado or my house burning to the ground, or a plane falling out of the sky, I can pretty much handle the rest. If a car caught fire and burned the gargage or carport I'd have to pay for the damages. My cars are covered though. Flood is unlikely, plumbing leaks or burst pipes, I'd have to do the repairs, hail, repairs as needed. We have insurance on everything but this house. I refuse to be a victim. They get too much out of me already. Geez .... now I'm getting irked. Dental insurance, medical insurance, homeowners insurance, car insurance, business liability insurance; When I add that all together ....

Howdy! The yard is lookin' good, Matt - bet you're glad to have that done! Naturally the sun is shining today after a soggy weekend - I don't think we've had a nice weekend in over a month. And tomorrow is golf league, so of course the forecast is 50's and rain.

Get up and move, Gurus!

Nicely done Matt, cute kiddos also! Well I started off the week in trouble.....I forgot our anniversary.....I thought about it awhile back when maybe Brad or Tom had theirs but not once since......its doom despair and agony on me until I can make it right. Maybe something new for the Vette that would cheer her up.........yeah, right....geez anyway 29 of them today.

Insurance....don't get me started. We are what is called insurance poor. Between personal and business you would freak if you knew how much went out of here each year to keep our asses protected. Geez Tommy...10K???? That's scary. We have a percentage of the house worth as our deductable. You can have one percent or 2 percent. We carry the one percent which would be pretty steep.

Brilliance just hit me.....what if on the Guru you could put in the dates like birthdays and anniversaries and such and then on the week before you get a PM that gives you a heads up........? What's not to love about that....? Make it so No. 1.........

Took the Vette on a ride yesterday and had a nice day..on the way home caught the tail end of a shower that was only on about 3 miles of the hiway and got the car all dirty....kinda pissed me off but then I got it to drive it so what the heck it will clean up.

Gotta go have a great week Guru's....

I'll have my hardwood flooring project finished by lunchtime. I got the door molding installed and most of the base molding cut yesterday.
Just a few cuts, a little paint and some nailing today.

Then it's back to DNBFS.

Time to get my ass in gear. A local nurseryman closed down a nursery and told my wife she could take anything she wanted. It's been idle for a long time but she says she can get something out of it. That means an afternoon of heavy lifting. Everything she wants is big ..... Can't complain though. The price is right. ..... Free .....

OK , I'll post the answer before some cheater Google's it.

The face on the Pringle's can was designed for the biochemist that came up with the Pringles formula.

He left the company to DNBFS.

Good afternoon at all. At home recovering from yesterdays' 10 mile Broad Street Run.

The report: 1:46 and change for Ivelis, 1:51 and change for me. In my defense, I'm having significant left knee issues. Still ran better than last year - Ivelis a lot better.

Landscaping looks good, Matt.

We have a friend that had big cats. Lions, tigers, lynx and others. He could get itn the cage with them. His ex girlfriend had her arm mauled during a feeding. When families came with kids he told the parents to hold onto their children and keep them away from the cages. Big cats see children as food. There is no such thing as a fully tamed cat. Even a house cat can turn. Dogs too for that matter. So why would you get in a cage with a big cat? You must like living dangerously.

Just ask Roy

At 10 mile run can leave your knees in a condition that leaves that impossible.

I'd have to eat a lot of yogurt in order to get in a room with one of those cats.

Almost done.

This is the number of wood planks I had left over. They say to order 10% more flooring than you need but I'm a gambler.
