Good Morning CGs!

Need to stop by the parts store and pick up some JB Weld today. I've never used that stuff. I'd like to try it for filling the coolant passage holes that I'm cutting off and making flush underneath the throttle body. I've heard good things about it and since it's not structural or integral I figured I'll give it a shot.

Also working on putting together a stainless steel allen cap bolt set for the superram. It's supposed to go to the powder coater this week. I don't know if that will happen or not. Since I finally got the a/c ironed out, I can move along to that project. Hope all goes smoothly.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

I found that when I make one of my ponderous posts I have to merge it because somebody started the daily chat while I was writing it. Yah! Short starts took care of that issue.

Greetings! One forecast called for 80% chance of rain, and another said mostly sunny. I chose to believe the second one, so far so good.

Have a good day, Gurus!

Morning Guru's. Planning to wrap up some work stuff today to focus on a weekend of DNBFS - car show tomorrow (an early Toys for Tots fundraiser) and a drift event at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday.

Also looking forwards to the Olympics

The green monster is now running up to 6k RPM with the new fuel pump but my scans show I'll be out of pulse width in about 100 RPM (at that point it will be 100% duty cycle on the 60lb-ers). So.. in order to run this baby up to 6500 at 80-85% duty cycle I'm going to need an extra 20% fuel pressure or install 80lb injectors. Both these options have downsides.

Anyway - weather is a little cooler (80's) but still very humid. A bit easier to do yardwork - so I might finish off jet washing the driveway tonight.

Happy Friday!

It is nerve racking when you go to start a post in the am and you don't want to be the second one to post up a daily chat that is already up and going....I have had that happen. So then you have to pm a mod and have them fix it....I mean the shame of it is hard to take....

I always look to see who else is online and if no one then I take my time....if several are on then I let them get it going....nothing worse then blogging blunders...

My daughter said the theater is in a rough neighborhood, but still. Next it will be like getting on an airplane trying to get into the theater...take that bastard out and line him up against the wall and give the relatives of the ones he shot their choice of weapons and put him out of our misery......too bad some normal person in the theater wasn't packing.....

I'm sorry I'm beginning to rant....really I am a peaceful man who just wants everyone to get along...

Scary thought. TSA-like movie theatre security. More people pack into a movie than get a on a plane. Can movie pre screening be far behind? You know, for our own protection and security. Please arrive two hours before the start time.
It's getting to the point where each of us needs our own personal government hired security representative to protect us. That would certainly ramp up the employment numbers. Of course the tax rate would be impossible to maintain. Ah! They can worry about that later ............

I'm ranting again ..... Aren't I.

It'll work well.

Couple things, Brake clean the surfaces (I know I don't need to mention this but...).

And JB will sag while it's curing so you have to keep that in mind. You may want to put the JB in the hole then put a piece of masking or duct tape over the hole and set the part down in a way that the JB sags towards the tape (so it fills up that part of the hole perfectly).

I had a pin hole in a radiator fin on the racecar, fixed with JB, never leaked again.

One of my outside water spigots cracked and was spewing a boatload of water. Fixed with a hose clamp & JB.
This JB is 15+ years old, exposed to hot sun every day.

I just saw a commercial for Hot August Nights. They have a new event - ride with a stunt driver in a 600 HP Corvette or Mustang.

Don't know why that doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

Thanks for the tips. Does it sand/file well? I want it to be flat, then I'm gonna spray paint the whole piece aluminum colored.

Oh yea, you can even tap it in a non-critical application.

I keep both in the shop, the standard and JB Kwik.

I put half the Silverado grill back together with it after hittin' a deer.

The only time I've ever had a problem was when I tried to use it on some ABS outside at 30 degrees, didn't work.

500 degree rating BTW.

I picked it up at the store today. Hopefully get to try it out in the next few days. I have so many little projects going on right now. I start one and get sidetracked...blah blah blah. Door panels have been off the car 2 months now with the new seal ready to go on. But as I started pulling off the old felts today, I saw how bad my door panels were cracked. Need to do some repairs to those.

Put in a skimmer tray, filter, pressure switch, high temp sensor and heat sensor in the hot tub. Nothing changed. I may just go to the tech next. Let him figure it out. I want to get the jac up and running. The next series of parts get more expensive so I don't want to be buying parts I don't need. Even if I have to pay the guy a couple of bills for labor, I might come out ahead,. At least I tried. Unless someone needs a break, say, from Reno or Chicago.

IIRC, I got a D- in pool repair in college. Guess they didn't like my final exam essay on turnin' a hot tub into a bong.

Yes ... Replace the circuit board, almost $300. control panel, $200, pump repair $200. heater tube $150. I may even have an electrical issue. The parts I replaced are normal culprits for this behavior. I just knocked out the cheaper parts in the hope that it would resolve the issue. My circuit breaker kicks about 30 seconds after engageing it. I get on OH an sn1 which is the over heat and pressure switch reading on the control panel. The sensors and switch I replaced should have resolved that. I have the manual. I'm trying to test a circuit before the breaker cuts the power. Not a lot of time to get to the box. The guy I have a number for has years in the business. He could diagnose it in about 15 minutes verses my 3+ hours of I have the weekend to play with it a little. If i don't find it I'll call in the pro on Monday. No matter what it cost to fix, it's cheaper than buying a new one. I have pump rebuilders, and parts suppliers. I have a tester. All I need is to isolate the culprit. I'll read some more and see what I see.

Next step

8.5 House Breaker Trips
The hot tubs current draw will vary depending on how the circuit board is jumpered. Jumper options
determine whether multiple functions can operate together.
If the house breaker trips, check the hot tubs current draw. If jumpers are properly set and current draw is
within expected limits, the house breaker or wiring is defective and must be repaired/replaced. The hot tubs
current draw at the breaker represents the sum of all enabled devices. Refer to appendix page 32.
If the hot tub’s current draw is high, individual device current measurements must be made to determine
which device is pulling excessive current. Refer to appendix page 32. Repair or replace the device which
is drawing excessive current.
If the GFCI trips, try removing the heater, pump, ozonator (if installed), and circulation pump or pump 2
from the circuit board one at a time to find which device may be causing the GFCI to trip. For chronic GFCI
tripping, call Jacuzzi Premium Spas Technical Support.
