GOOD MORNING

This month is just flying by. That's good and bad. Good because it's August. Bad because I ain't getting any younger. Today is shutter day. Make sure all your shutters are in good working order. If you don't have shutters, buy some. On my house there are fake shutters. They look like shutters. They just don't do anything but look pretty. I'm gonna retry cleaning the house.(You'll remember from a previous episode I was pulled away from the aforementioned duty). I have to drop off a box of okra to my MIL and FIL. That's about all I have planneed for today. Wifey has been occupied with all my family so she doesn't call. Lots of gal chat, kiddie care, family gossip and the like. Mom is enjoying the company. Well ..... Have a great day gurus. We'll never pass this way again. Right BillH ?

Good Morning CGs!

So, Tommy, what if you:

-have a speech impediment...is it stutter day?
-enjoy creamy spreads...is it butter day?
-are a lofty insect...is it flutter day?
-are a butcher...is it cutter day?
-work in a fancy spa...is it mudder day?
-are a roofer...is it gutter day?
-are a peanut farmer...is it nutter day?
-run a miniature golf course...it it putter day?

It was nice and cool here overnight. Slept with the windows cracked open and it was pleasant. 54 right now going up to 79. I plan on getting in a workout today and maybe tinkering in the garage. I played in the garage for a few minutes last night cleaning up my new drill press. Came out decent and I'm surprised there is no noticeable runout when I was doing some test drilling in an old piece of wood. I'm very happy for my $20 investment.

Wifey is supposed to be up and going to the eye doctor but looks like she isn't, so I have to run.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Baby is still sleeping...amazing. He always sleeps well with the fresh air from the open window. Once he gets up I'll get him ready to go.

Hey Tommy, I never knew you liked golf so much. I'm glad you can still hit the links at your age:

You mead the drill bit didn't runout to a 45 degree angle or nothing?

When I was just a boy
and the devil would call my name

Saturday mornings at my house as a boy.
You couldn't go out till the house was spotless. There was 6 of us. So around 08:30 everybody would dig in to get everything done, which usually took two to three hours. Then everybiody could go on their way. When I was 18 and joined the USAF, the cleanliness part was no problem for me. It was ingrained. Today is no different. I like a clean house so I try to get it looking nice for the weekend. Grass cut, floors cleaned and everything in it's place. Most everything in it's place. Wash done, kitchen and batrooms clean. It just makes me feel better. I have OCD to boot. I square things up or angle them as appropriate. The wife usually works 6 days a week. Since I retired I do all the honey do's. It's not bad. After all I don't work a 9 to 5. When I bitch about doing stuff, it's only because the devil is calling my name. You see, he's got me on speed dial.

DNBFS Lession 2: How to do laundry.

1. The clothes on the floor that you threw towards the basket need to be picked up (this is the hard part).

2. Dump everything out of the basket into the washer, whites, colors, sneakers, grease rags, etc.

3. Start the washer, add soap if you're ambitious.

4. Get in your sports car and go to the casino for lunch.

5. Take a scenic drive in your sports car.

6. Upon your return, check to see if the washer has turned off.

7. Head for the couch thinkin' "I can put that stuff in the dryer tomorrow".

8. Place a post-it note on the tv remote about the "dryer thing"

I think we'll go down to the car show in Hastings (neat little river town) tonight - been wanting to do that all summer, and it looks like it will be a beautiful evening. Wow....I love soybeans...I mean what is not to love...mainly they are short, at this time of the year they only come up to my waist. Which is good because it is not so hot like the 14' high corn fields. In the early morning we have to wear rain pants or we get our jeans soaked and walk around for several hours feeling like I pissed my pants.....The soybean is worth 17 dollars a bushel right now and average yield will be 65 to 75 bushels per acre...

Up late because I slept in...which is rare for me. Been staying up watching the Olympics at night. Wedding this afternoon...it's outside and the temps are going to be very nice. We will take the Vette over....

Easy does it Guru's....

Morning guys....I, too, slept in, but not because I stayed up late.....No not that either :evil. I was just worn out from this past week I guess.

I'm pretty sure that men would approve of the technique of morning sickness....I would.

Wish we were looking at 70's and 80's for highs. It's going to be cooler than it has been, but still in the 90's and back into the upper 90's low 100's by end of the week.

We are headed to a wedding this afternoon as well.

Bill, I'm thinking a trip to Reno for HAN is in my future. Every year I see your pictures and makes me want to make the trip. I'm going to put it on the agenda. UUUhhmmm, maybe make my trip to California next year a bit later than I was originally planning.

We have lots of soybeans in the area. They take water too, but not as much as corn.

Well, I need to get ready for the wedding. have a great day.

Well, you can stay here IF you can put up with a double bed made in the 1960's.

If not, I'd suggest booking a hotel room by the end of next month.

Had a nice time at the zoo. Rode the tram around for the tour, watched the dolphin show, had some lunch. Kids were absolutely horrible...lol. Just wouldn't listen at all. They got that trait from my wife Now I'm home and I did tidy things up, washed the dishes, etc. Gonna work out since I didn't get a chance this morning and maybe work in the garage if my wife gets home late from canning peaches at her dad's house (we can hope).

Chores are done, so I'm enjoying a frosty beverage before the Mrs. discovers this fact and adds something to my list.

Saw this on the news last night, nice story:

I've been tidying house all day. Had to go to the nursery around 12:30. I've still got the patio to go. I did sweep the garage and shake out the mats. HAN sounds like it would be a great Guru Gathering. Bill, Do you recommend any good hotels for the event. Might be better to stay 20 miles out. I don't know. Watching from a hotel would be pretty cool too. Hotels that are $$ to $$$ but not $$$$$. I'm with Tom. Bill, everytime you post stuff on HAN, I get a serious car woody. If nobody else comes I might just take that bed next year. My wife made the mistake of saying, "Why don't you go out there?". When it comes time to go though I bet she'd wanna go too. You never know with her. I never know when she'll suddenly say say "I wanna go". We'll just have to see how it plays out. So tell us about hotels.

I don't know much about hotels here.......seems I never stay in one.

But I do know that the rates go way up for this week.

Carson City's about 35 minutes away.

Maybe rent a 5 bedroom ski cabin at Lake Tahoe?

All I know is my guest room's free.

I can't even get a search to come up with room rates.

And the Grand Sierra (where the big show is) only will go out to July 2013 - $119 is the lease expensive.

Today I:

Cut the grass
Trimed the hedges
Mopped the floors
Vacuumed the carpet
And washed the windows

Unfortunately those are Bill's code names for manscaping. He'll actually work around the house tomorrow

I did... uhm... got up about 11:20, had some oatmeal, watched tv, met an old friend to hand over some old photos of their band I'd promised I'd had for years, drove the vette for about 10 miles, came home, got the truck out, put gas in it, rode 5 miles to the cemetery to make sure it was still there, came home, am in the middle of making a tomato pie (cheese, tomatoes, seasonings, bacon, mayo, you bake it), and have had some sea bass to eat, sitting on front porch swing with an ice coffee. Tried a beer, just didn't taste right. Oh and I've had a cupcake. That didn't taste right either.

I took a speed reading course years ago. In speed reading you don't read every word. You skip some of the smaller words to get the overall idea of the sentence. Above is what I speed read. [jk]
