Good Morning CGs!

Well, the month is drawing to a close. That means my projects have to get done (not really, but I tell myself that). We made a dent in the prep work last night for the painting. All the trim is taped, the ceiling is 80% done and the scaffolding is up. I still need to put the paper and tarps on the floor and move a little more furniture then I can start painting. Maybe tonight after work, maybe tomorrow. That pretty much has encompassed all my down time lately so you haven't seen me around a lot.

Here's a shot...scaffolding and ladders are ready to go:

Hope everyone has a great day!

GOOD MORNING
My list is getting longer as I work on stuff not on the list. I think my list is really things I don't want to do but must do at some point. My non list stuff is stuff that needs to be done on a routine basis. Today I'm gonna ....... do something. I'll know more after coffee time and a nice hot shower.
Quick tech question C4 related. What might cause a power surge when I turn the key to start the car? When I turn the key on it's fine but when I engage the starter the lights get brighter when normally a cars lights would dim slightly during starter engagement.
Have a great day gurus. Keep doing what your doing.

Greetings! Nice day on tap here, 75 and sunny. It will feel a lot better than the 55 and sunny we had Saturday. This morning it sounded like fall, with the dying leaves rustling in the breeze. Time to enjoy the nice days while they're here. Meanwhile, we're basking in the glory of an unexpected stellar performance by the Vikings yesterday.

Matt, scaffolds and ladders are for wussies:

On the bright side, those folks can just unhook the trailer and let it roll into the dump.

No back up? I have several. You sure you don't have an old top of the stove model packed away somewhere?

My wife just stopped by with some fresh made pork rinds. I can feel my artreies clogging as I ingest them.

I'm tired of cleaning the shop but it's not cleaning our crap............it's cleaning up glass dust....rusty dust....fiberglass dust.......

All of which floats on to the C4 (and everywhere else).

I'm tired of vacuuming the damn floor every day which gets some of it off the floor but mostly blows it back up into the air.

I'm tired of cleaning the C4 with compressed air everytime I drive it.

But then, I got nothung better to do.

Good thing I keep all the cleaned and painted C2 parts in the living room.

The backup is a prick-o-lator which is packed up in a camping shit box in the race trailer.

I boiled water and slowly poured in in the Mr. Coffee.

I'm going to WallyWorld and buy 2 new ones.

Note: No more Mr. Coffee's, they only last about a year, had a GE that lasted 4 years.

Maybe I should just buy 5 Chinese knock offs.

Dust. I have 4 car covers. One for each sportscar. I put them away last year but I've just reactivated them. I wash the cars and rogue raindrops get them under the carport. The black one has dust on it within 30 minutes of washing it and it's in the garage. It's a conspiracy. The only way to have the fresh, clean look is to freshly clean it and drive it right away beofore anything can settle on it.

Dust? I live in the high desert.
And for some reason, the breeze always blows into the garage.

I have the same 30 minute deal, normally the California Car Duster takes care of it. BUT, the deal lately is if you remove glass bead dust with it, you now have a duster full of glass.

Same deal wit car covers, glass bead dust on the top of the cover.....and if you don't fold it right, you have glass dust on the inside of the cover.

Morning guys....I'll bet all that dust is very abrasive. Kids are in a pretty good mood this morning...maybe it's because I'm in a pretty good mood. (:shrug).

Most of the time, if I drink coffee, it's instant. No sense making a whole pot when I only drink one cup. But we have a Mr. Coffee that my mom and dad had and they made two pots a day for several years with it. I've had it for 6 years. the daughter has one of those fancy things that grinds the beans and automatically makes the coffee so it's ready when you get up.

That picture reminds of the ones my dad showed me of their move to California in the 30's. Everything they owned plus there were 10 kids.

Don't know if you guys remember from last year the guy that was touring the country in his 66 roadster. Hit all lower 48 and was in Canada twice on his trip. Stopped by my house and spent the night. Well this year he decided to ship his car to Europe and do a similar trip there.

My Corvettes do not like to sit. All kinds of gremlins come to life from me not driving them enough. If I run them every few days they treat me better than if I let them sit a couple of weeks. If I bring them out and beat them up a little they are a lot happier. Just sayin. I'll be chasing a couple of minor problems down as soon as the temps become tolerable. By tolerable I mean t-shirt weather where my shirt doesn't get soaked with persperation in a half hour. Looking forward to the 70-80 range. In' the 90 it's mostly electrical issues. In the 91 it has an on again off again brake system issue. Possibly ABS related. I started compartmentalizing the issues and it doesn't seem as daunting as it once did. The more I read the more I learn. I still don't care to go inside the tranny or engine but outside is fair game. The Porsches aren't as electronics heavy so they aren't as moody. Believe me when I say the Corvettes cost me more to maintain. Unscheduled whine fest is now concluded.

I want the car to be the way it left the factory, sorta.

It would be interesting to go for flight judging (top flight) but to do so would be expensive, mainly because the car's exhaust has been changed to sidepipes. That's anywhere from a 150 to 190 point deduction. so, everything else would have to be very, very good.

Point deductions for some of the cosmetics would prevent a top flight like - the console surround (that has the 4 speed pattern, ash tray, shift boot, etc) has enough pitting in the chrome that it will be a problem, a repo will still loose some points (cause nobody makes a really good one) and the repo is $600 a NOS one costs as much as a Grand Sport.

I have to buy repo rally wheels and they aren't stamped right. Though, I may blow that off and put Torque Thrust mags on.

And I refuse to use the correct paint on the frame and won't be shooting the body with laquer.

So, I'm building a fairly correct driver on a budget.

There's guys who've purchased very nice, matching number's cars and put $40k into them to get to top flight. Probably worth it if you have a 427/435.

Note: your Porsche's are slightly older thus easier. But the newer ones (think C5 years) cost a bunch to maintain.

But it's all your fault (for not driving them) anyway.

Bill, I like the way you are going about it. Sounds like only a NCRS judge or expert would no the difference and in turn you have a very sweet looking 'driver'.

Thanks a lot Andy.

I am doing the factory markings on the parts (mostly different color paint marks) and will stencil the vin and part number on the frame. But I don't want the correct paint on the frame, it's asphalt based and will get screwed up just by splashing gasoline on it. The frame's painted with urathane semi gloss which will last a long time. the a-arms are also urathane but gloss black.

I need another shipment of parts like I got today to get the suspension together.

There was a saying I heard that you have a better chance of dying from a coconut falling on your head than getting struck hit by lightning.

Here's the scoop on that one.

Sorry to hear about the tree trimmer. Accidents happen in all fields but I've heard tree trimmers have a higher exposure to risk. I believe it. I've seen the evidence.
