Good morning.
I thought I would go to sleep at 09:30 last night and catch a little extra sleep. Well, all that did was help me get up at 04:30. I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. One of those stupid endless loop dream scenarios was running through my head and I couldn't kick it. So, it was coffee at 04:38. I like the early morning though. It's quiet.

I wish you all a happy Freeday. Let me find out what today commemorates or at least what I want it to commemorate.

Way back in the olden days I went to one of the three all boy high schools in the City of Boston. They were Boston English, Boston Latin and Boston Technical. These were specialty schools within the city that had high reputations and standards. They only accepted a limited number of students from throughout the city. The first year I went the shirt and tie stadard went out the door. By the time I was a junior they had started accepting girls into the program. Oh, the times they were a'changing. After attending an 8 year parochial elementary school, I found public school work was pretty easy. I had the tools I needed to succed. I got fair grades and spent a lot of time cutting school. Imagine what I would have done had I only applied myself. I was already working 30 to 40 hours a week by the time I was a sophomore. There were about 1250 students and most of the teachers were men. Of the women, one stands out. Miss Gilmore. She wasn't beautiful but she wasn't bad either. Of course she had the support of some of the big, kick ass, teachers so the students minded their P&Qs. Back in those days a teacher had no qualms about kicking your ass for doing something stupid. Miss Gilmore had the attention of over 1000 boys. She had a captive audience that loved to follow her every move. Socially, going to an all male school has a drawback. You didn't have any girls to flirt with during school. All of that you had to do on your own time. I remember sailing paper planes out the fifth floor window and having contests of whose would go the furthest. Then a flaming paper planes contest. Ah, yes. Self taught lessons in aerodynamics. The key to a good education is learning.

Welcome to Friday and the end of the workweek. In just a few hours the weekend will be upon us.

In addition to being Teacher's Day, today is also Bond Day, James Bond Day. The 50th anniversary of the first James Bond movie. Martini, shaken not stirred.

Good morning...its teachers day every day at our house...that's what happens when you marry a school marm. (School Marm....A woman teacher, especially one who is regarded as strict or old fashioned.) Uh...that would be Uwoman.....

I can remember a lot of my teachers some good some bad...I always did better in the classes where I liked the teacher.

Yesterday I power raked 25,000 sq ft of lawn, then I went over that with the bagger mower to pick up all the dead crap, stopping every round or so to dump the dead grass in the back of the pickup. Then I got to go over it again to scalp it to 1" and dump all that.....took me all day and it was dirty work. We are ready for the crew to come in and seed today. I saved about $2K by doing the big prep work so I'm feeling good about that but I'm sore from all the work. Took off 3 big pickup loads to our tree dump.

In between that I help do some work on the deck and got it done also....we are ready for family. Funny how having family coming gets you motivated to get stuff done...

Big game tonight for the home team....have a good day Guru's...

Happy Friday! It was a balmy 37 degrees this morning when I hopped in the car, so the steering wheel heater got its first use of the season. I picked up the Maxima from the body shop last night, looks almost like new again.

One of the best teachers I ever had was my 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Heikkela. She was quite stern, and always demanded your very best work. She always said, "Put your mind in motion before putting your mouth in gear." Toward the end of the school year, she caught me with a Mad Magazine, and confiscated it. That summer, I got a call from the principal, asking me to come down to the school. He presented me with a brand-new Mad Magazine, courtesy of Mrs. Heikkela. She had read mine, and decided to use it in her class to teach satire.

Don't let this happen to you:

Good Morning CGs!

Went to bed a little later than usual last night. Of course I still got up early this morning. I was gonna go tinker in the garage, but RR#2 woke up at 6:45 (too early) so that nixed that plan.

I'm looking forward to the new Bond movie Nov 9th. I like Daniel Craig as Bond and have the last two on dvd.

I have some work stuff to take care of today, a workout, and maybe tinker with the car.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I was sending my old buds some pics of our old cars. Might as well share them here. These are close to what we had. I totaled my 63 Galaxy so I got a 66 T-Bird. I wanted a 68 Coronet 440 RT with tri power but my mom made me buy my T-Bird back from a friend of hers that bought it and fixed it up. I guess that's why I'm still alive today. That 440 would have killed me.

Morning guys....Mr. Meanie here. Your description of the fifth grade teacher could be describing me. Big difference in students compared to today though. Back then I think we responded to that "challenge". Today the kids just give up if they don't get it right away or find they have to think too much.

You really need to stock up on cheap trophies. When a kid does something right give them a trophy.

No backseat passengers or heavy trunkloads, aye Marcus?

My 79 T/A looked bad as a mofo with 60s on the rear and 70's on the front but bottomed out with any weight in the rear. My MIL at the time said "Why dont you change those tires?". Me: "I like em."

It didn't have to ride good. It had to go fast, particularly in a straight line. Great classic stance there, Shackles in the back and I am guessing cranked down on the front torsion bars. 383?

My 323's running rough keeps throwing PO 0300, random misfire.

Key on f/p hit 55 and then dropped to 10 in 45 seconds.

So, I'm changing the fuel pressure regulator as soon as the motor cools. Luckly it's less than 10 min. job.

Speakin' of rides, I stopped by Joe's yesterday. Sittin' beside the 67 was his splitwindow.

Both are on SRII tude frames but where the red 67 has a LS3, the 63 has an LS6, sounds really badass.

The 63's "in process", I'll have to get some pics.

It didn't have to ride good. It had to go fast, particularly in a straight line. Great classic stance there, Shackles in the back and I am guessing cranked down on the front torsion bars. 383?

Yep...383 torq flite...335 hp I'm thinking...had a rear axel want to leave me one night...those big meats might have been a strain on the bearings....

Silverado's running like new.

Changing the FPR didn't take 10 minutes, it took 5 minures.

A story with a happy ending, now back to DNBFS.

I was supposed to get into DNBFS.

A wave of "act responsible" hit me (felt kinda like indigestion).

So I started something that's been overdue.

But, Friday's supposed to be one of my days off, right?

That red 67 is one of the best looking mid's I can remember...I would crawl a mile over busted windshields to have that car....

You really need to stock up on cheap trophies. When a kid does something right give them a trophy.

That exactly what they expect. Reward me for doing what I SHOULD be doing anyway.

Middle schoolers......Aaaahhhhhhhhggggg......TGIF

Big game tonight here at home. It's going to be cold, so I'll dress warm for the game, even though I'll be in the booth. Supposed to freeze tonight. Tomorrow morning, early, I'll be out to the golf course for the CC meet. I'll probably add some more clothes to what I wear tonight.

That is one hot 67 Bill. Marcus, your Road Runner is looking good, perfect example of the era.
