Easy to change, but hard to get them to seal properly without leaking later on.

I've had the best luck with the right stuff and thicker rubber gaskets. But even those start leaking eventually. It's very hard to get a good seal against the rough head surface. Don't tighten the bolts too much.

Someone else suggested using only RTV and no gasket.

You said that 6 months ago. I think there's been revolutions that lasted less than that.

"They/Them/you" are starting to catch up with my procrastination.

yeah, I've been putting a lot of stuff off. I don't feel bad about it though. I've been busy and the car does run really good. I'd give it a 80%.

Sounds good. So if you're driving back from San Bernardino, how long does it take to walk 20% of the way?

Not hard to replace, but since I had them off I decided to add 1.6 rockers, and repaint the valve covers. Some silicone on both sides of the gasket and so far no leaks. I did re-tighten two times though. Using Mobile one and no leaks anywhere from the engine.

9 hours?

Are you talking 'bout an L98?

It's a 30 minute/1 beer job, tops. 8 bolts total.

I've had good luck with the rubber ones. No leaks for about 5 years and 20K :-) . Got em at Autozone I think
